Chinese manufacturer Vivo is preparing to introduce the successor to the V50 5G model. The new generation, designated Vivo V60, will bring several significant improvements, and the manufacturer has already started officially promoting it through a campaign on its Indian website. Among the main attractions will be the huge 6,500mAh battery, which the new device will offer in a relatively thin body.

Periscope Telephoto Lens with 100x Zoom

Vivo is trying to attract attention, for example, with a trio of rear cameras with ZEISS lenses. The main star of the setup will be a 50Mpx periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, based on a Sony IMX882 sensor with a size of 1/1.95″. In combination with digital zoom, the phone is expected to enable up to 100x hybrid zoom, a value also boasted by significantly more expensive models.

Instead of a standard LED flash diode, the Vivo V60 will be equipped with a so-called “Aura Light”, a circular LED flash designed to provide more even illumination, especially when taking photos and shooting videos at close range. In combination with optical stabilization, it should offer above-average results even in poorer lighting conditions.

Premium Display and New Design

The smartphone will feature a 120Hz OLED panel with 1.5K resolution, which will be slightly curved on all four sides (Vivo calls it the “Equal-Depth Quad Curved Screen”).

The Vivo V60 will be available in three color variants: Auspicious Gold, Moonlit Blue, and Mist Gray. The blue version is expected to boast a distinct textured back, giving the phone a unique look.

The rear camera island has also undergone a significant design change, now looking very similar to the POCO X7 Pro.

Performance and Availability

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor is expected to tick, which will be an upgrade from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset used in its predecessor. The new device is also expected to retain IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, which is still a relatively rare feature in this price category.

Vivo has not yet confirmed exactly when and at what price the V60 will be launched. It is expected to appear in India during August, and this should not be too distant a date for the European market either. Therefore, it is very likely that the new model could also come to the Czech Republic, where it would follow up on the currently sold Vivo V50.

Let’s Recall the Vivo V50

The current Vivo V50 5G model is sold in our country for 12,799 Kč and offers a 6.77″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2388 × 1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset along with 12 GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The camera setup includes a 50Mpx main sensor with a ZEISS lens and an f/1.88 aperture, complemented by a 50Mpx wide-angle lens. The front 50Mpx selfie camera will delight all selfie enthusiasts. A 6,000 mAh battery with 90W fast charging ensures two days of typical use. The phone also boasts IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance.

How do you like the upcoming Vivo V60 and its improvements compared to the current model?
