Chinese Vivo today introduced the new flagship X300 series, which is aimed not only at the domestic market but apparently also at Europe. And finally, it will bring a more sophisticated overlay, OriginOS 6, instead of the current average FunTouch OS. At first glance, it’s a classic flagship duo – the more compact X300 and the larger X300 Pro – but the cameras look so impressive that even more expensive models might envy them.

Zeiss cameras with 200MP sensors

The main selling point of both phones are cameras with Zeiss optics. The Vivo X300 Pro received a 50MP main Sony LYT-828 sensor with an f/1.57 aperture and gimbal stabilization, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a brutal 200MP telephoto lens with a 1/1.4″ Samsung HPB sensor. It offers an equivalent 85mm focal length and 3.7× optical zoom.

The base X300 has a similar setup, just with a different distribution – the 200MP Samsung HPB sensor is used here as the main camera with an f/1.68 aperture, while the telephoto lens has “only” 50MP and 3x optical zoom. Its sensor is also smaller than the Pro model. Both phones record video up to 4K at 120 fps with 10-bit Log, which videographers will appreciate.

The X300 Pro even supports an external telephoto lens, which Vivo introduced this year with the X200 Ultra model. It’s a 2.35× clip-on lens that attaches via a special cover and dramatically improves zoom. The Photography Kit also includes a grip with a battery and other accessories.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 against Snapdragon

Both phones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. It’s a direct competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and according to initial benchmarks, it performs quite well. In the 3DMark Extreme test, the X300 Pro achieved a score of around 6,900 points, comparable to the iPhone 17 Pro.

Pro versions are available with 12 or 16 GB RAM and up to 1 TB storage (UFS 4.1). The base memory configuration starts at 12/256 GB.

Huge battery and fast charging

The X300 Pro has a 6,510 mAh battery, while the smaller X300 has 6,040 mAh. Both batteries use silicon-carbon technology, making them more compact for the same capacity. Vivo claims that due to optimizations, their endurance corresponds to classic 7,500mAh and 7,000mAh batteries in competing phones, respectively – but we will verify this in our review.

Wired charging occurs at 90 W, and wireless at 40 W. The X300 Pro can charge from 0 to 100% in under 45 minutes. Both phones also feature reverse wireless charging.

Displays: large Pro, “compact” base model

The X300 Pro received a 6.78″ LTPO AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1260 × 2800 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness is expected to reach 4,500 nits, which is a brutal value. The panel supports HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision. An ultrasonic fingerprint reader, said to be lightning-fast, is located under the display.

The base X300 is referred to as “compact,” even though it has a 6.31″ display – unfortunately, in this day and age, we have to consider it compact. The resolution is 1216 × 2640 pixels; otherwise, it’s the same type of panel as the Pro version. The phone is only 7.95 mm thin and weighs 190 grams, which is a really pleasant value.

OriginOS 6 instead of FunTouch: finally!

This is perhaps the most important news for Europe. Vivo is finally bringing its more sophisticated overlay, OriginOS 6, outside of China. The previous FunTouch OS was functional but outdated in many respects (e.g., graphically). Personally, I’m curious about updates for older models. Will last year’s X200 series also get the new OriginOS? Or will Vivo maintain FunTouch for a few more years and keep the new system exclusive to new phones? Unfortunately, we don’t have answers to that yet.

OriginOS 6 runs on Android 16 and introduces a new design inspired by iOS – from a customizable lock screen to a dual-scrolling menu (notifications on the left, controls on the right) and transformative effects reminiscent of Apple’s Liquid Glass. Vivo promises four major Android system updates.

An interesting feature is Shake to Share – by shaking phones face-to-face, you can share files without an internet connection.

Prices in China, Europe soon

The Vivo X300 starts in China at 4,399 yuan (approximately 13,000 CZK) for the 12/256 GB version. The highest 16/1TB configuration costs 5,999 yuan (about 17,800 CZK). The X300 Pro starts at 5,299 yuan (approximately 15,600 CZK) for 12/256 GB and goes up to 6,699 yuan (20,000 CZK) for the 16/1TB version.

There is also a special Photographer Edition for 8,299 yuan (about 24,500 CZK), which includes the complete Photography Kit with an external lens, grip, and accessories.

European prices are not yet known, but given that Vivo has confirmed a global launch, we can expect both phones to arrive here. The editorial team is preparing a review of the X300 Pro, so you’ll soon find out if it stands up to real-world use.
