Vodafone is trying to attract new customers with a classic tactic – a significant discount on the basic tariff. Red Basic Lite now costs 329 crowns instead of the usual 567, which is a decent 43 percent off. But beware, this offer is only valid for those who come to Vodafone from another provider or switch from a prepaid card. Existing customers are out of luck, which is unfortunately usually standard for operators.

What you actually get for that money

The Red Basic Lite tariff is no miracle. For 329 crowns per month, you get unlimited calls and SMS to all networks, which is useful. The problem is data – a mere 3 GB. This is enough for WhatsApp, emails, and occasional web browsing. Roaming in the EU and other selected countries is a given, where you can use the tariff just like at home.

The summer data trick has its limitations

Vodafone has added a summer bonus to the tariff that sounds good – you can activate 30 GB of data per month three times. That’s up to 90 GB extra during the summer. The catch is that each package must be activated manually via the app or website, it is only valid for 31 days, and the last chance to activate it is August 31st, meaning from today it can only be activated once.

Who does it make sense for?

The tariff is mainly suitable for pensioners or people who primarily use their phone for calls. If you’re used to being always on Wi-Fi – at home, at work, in a cafe – and only occasionally need data for a tram ride, this might be enough for you. For the younger generation, who live online, it’s not enough.

How to evaluate it all

Vodafone bet on a simple calculation – many people still don’t need a large volume of data. For them, 329 crowns for unlimited calls plus a bit of data is a reasonable price. If you are a data minimalist or looking for a tariff for a second phone, it might be interesting. However, for normal use in 2025, 3 GB of data is simply not enough.

How many GB of data do you actually consume per month?
