The upcoming Aluminium OS operating system has been generating increasing buzz in recent months. Following January’s leaks of interface screenshots, alleged official wallpapers have now appeared on Telegram, hinting at the visual direction Google is taking with its new laptop platform. Take a look with us.

Wallpapers leaked via Telegram

The images were published by the Telegram channel Mystic Leaks at the end of March, and foreign servers subsequently picked up the topic. The wallpapers are reportedly divided into “Adaptive Wallpapers” (adaptive wallpapers) and “Chromebook Wallpapers” (Chromebook wallpapers) categories, suggesting that Google is internally working on more specific design elements of the system.

The wallpaper leak itself doesn’t reveal much about the system, but it fits into the context of previous leaks and confirms that Aluminium OS development is proceeding as planned.

What we already know about Aluminium OS

A relatively clear picture emerges from the leaks so far. Aluminium OS is built on Android 16 and combines mobile elements with a ChromeOS desktop interface. The top of the screen features an Android-style status bar, while the bottom retains a ChromeOS-like taskbar. Support for Chrome browser extensions, previously exclusive to the desktop version, has also been confirmed.

Google officially confirmed the merger of Android and ChromeOS in the summer of 2025, when Sameer Samat, President of the Android ecosystem, mentioned the plans. The codename Aluminium OS was later revealed by a LinkedIn job advertisement, which mentioned artificial intelligence directly at the core of the system.

The company plans several price categories of devices – from basic (AL Entry) to mass premium (AL Mass Premium) and premium (AL Premium). In addition to notebooks, tablets, detachable devices, and set-top boxes should also be developed. The launch is expected later this year, but the exact date is not yet known.

It’s important to note that ChromeOS is not disappearing. Google apparently plans a parallel strategy where both systems will coexist.

Are you looking forward to Aluminium OS?
