Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7

When Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold7 with the same battery capacity of 4400 mAh, which has been used since the fifth generation of this premium foldable, many potential buyers began to worry about battery life. After all, the new model has larger displays and a slightly more powerful processor, so it should consume more energy. However, a new test brings surprisingly positive results.

Optimization works wonders

YouTuber Ben from the Lover of Tech channel conducted a demanding battery test comparing the Galaxy Z Fold7 with its two predecessors. The results clearly show that the new model either keeps pace with last year’s Fold 6 or slightly surpasses it in some disciplines. Compared to the Fold 5, the progress is even more significant.

In total, the Galaxy Z Fold7 achieved a solid 5 hours, 36 minutes, and 31 seconds of active screen usage. The Fold6 finished with a time of 5 hours, 15 minutes, and 15 seconds, while the Fold5 lagged by more than an hour. This is a truly demanding test that included activities such as recording 4K video, broadcasting on Instagram Live, browsing TikTok, playing YouTube videos, and streaming music.

Cooler operation as a bonus

An interesting finding is also the fact that the Galaxy Z Fold7 handled temperature best of all tested models. Even during demanding tasks, it remained cooler than its predecessors, which can be attributed partly to the larger dimensions of the phone (better heat dissipation) and the more efficient Snapdragon chipset. Samsung also mentioned a **larger vapor chamber** at the press conference, and its implementation seems to have paid off.

Who should consider upgrading?

The test results clearly show that users upgrading from the Galaxy Z Fold6 will not see a significant improvement in battery life. However, if you own an older model like the Fold5 or Fold4, the difference will be noticeable. An extra hour in a typical workday can mean avoiding the need for an inconvenient recharge before returning home.

Although 5.5 hours of active screen usage is not among the record-holders in the smartphone world (for example, the Galaxy S25 Ultra typically provides 8 hours or more), it will be sufficient for most users. Given that this is a device with a foldable display and high performance, it is a solid result.
