Wild Speculation: Xiaomi 16 Pro Max Reportedly to Get Rear Display and Insanely Large Battery

Xiaomi is preparing to significantly expand its flagship lineup. According to fresh rumors, a completely new variant, the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max, will join the expected Xiaomi 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Ultra models. Similar to Apple, this should be the largest and best-equipped model in the portfolio, even surpassing the premium Ultra in some aspects, which the manufacturer targets at photography enthusiasts. The most interesting information is that it should boast the largest battery Xiaomi has ever built into its phone.

Battery King with 7500 mAh Capacity

The well-known leaker Digital Chat Station revealed on Weibo that the upcoming Xiaomi 16 Pro Max will get a gigantic battery with a capacity of 7,290 mAh, which the manufacturer could even round up to 7,500 mAh in marketing materials. This value will surpass the upcoming Xiaomi 16 Ultra model, which should have “only” a 7,000mAh battery. The reason for the limitation in the Ultra version is said to be a lack of space due to the complex and bulky camera.

The new Pro Max variant will thus directly compete with expected models such as Vivo X300 Pro, Oppo Find X9 Pro, and Honor Magic8 Pro, all of which should offer batteries with capacities around 7000 mAh. Thanks to the larger battery, Xiaomi could reach the top of the market in this area and surpass its direct competitors.

Powerful Hardware and Unique Design

Under the hood of the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor should tick, offering top-notch performance and even better energy efficiency. The entire Xiaomi 16 series should utilize this chipset, but we will likely see differences in the cooling system, where the Pro Max model could offer the most advanced solution.

As for the design, leaks suggest that the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max could come with a prominent camera module that might include a secondary display similar to what we once saw on the Mi 11 Ultra. According to available information, the camera module could cover almost a third of the phone’s rear side.

Although detailed camera specifications have not yet been revealed, the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max is expected to offer a setup at least comparable to the Pro model. This would mean a high-resolution main sensor complemented by an ultra-wide-angle lens and a periscope telephoto lens for quality zoom.

All cameras should bear the Leica designation, indicating continued cooperation with the legendary German optics manufacturer. In the area of photography, the Ultra model might still have an edge due to an even more advanced camera setup, while the Pro Max will likely rely on a combination of a large display and a huge battery.

Availability and Price

The entire Xiaomi 16 series should be unveiled at the end of this year, likely in November or December. While the base model should be available globally, there’s a risk that the Pro and Pro Max variants will remain exclusive to the Chinese market, as has been the case in recent years.
