It hasn’t even been a month since Xiaomi unveiled its 15T and 15T Pro models, and wild speculation about their successors is already starting to appear online. According to information from XiaomiTime, the company could surprise and launch the Xiaomi 17T series as early as February next year. If these rumors are confirmed, it would signify a revolutionary change in the company’s current strategy, which usually introduces its “T” models in the second half of the year.

Model Numbers Suggest a February Unveiling

The speculation didn’t come out of nowhere – alleged model numbers for both devices have appeared in the IMEI database. Specifically, these are 2602DPT53G (global version) and 2602DPT53I (Indian version) for the base model. For the Pro version, the numbers are 2602EPTC0G and 2602EPTC0R. The “2602” prefix in these designations suggests that the phones could be launched in February 2026 (the second month of 2026).

It’s also interesting that Xiaomi will apparently skip the 16T designation, similar to what it did with its main series, where after the Xiaomi 15 models, the Xiaomi 17 series came directly. It seems the company is synchronizing the numbering of its global product lines.

What Specifications Can We Expect?

Regarding technical specifications, mentions of processors are primarily appearing. The base Xiaomi 17T should be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset, which has not yet been officially introduced. The Pro version should then receive the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, which would represent another performance upgrade compared to the processors in current models.

The phones are also expected to arrive with the recently introduced HyperOS 3 overlay. No specific information has yet leaked regarding other specifications such as cameras, display, or battery.

Does It Even Make Sense So Soon?

Personally, I am somewhat skeptical about these speculations. While it’s true that model numbers in the IMEI database do suggest a February unveiling, it’s not clear if that necessarily means a market launch at that time. It could also be a preliminary registration of devices that are still under development and will actually be introduced much later.

From a business perspective, launching a new generation just 5 months after the previous one could be counterproductive. Customers who recently purchased a Xiaomi 15T or 15T Pro model might feel “betrayed.” Furthermore, so soon after the introduction of the previous generation, there might not be enough time for truly significant innovations.

However, it’s worth remembering that similar speculations about major changes in product schedules often appear and sometimes simply don’t turn out to be true. Therefore, I would recommend taking this information with a grain of salt until Xiaomi officially confirms it or until we see more concrete leaks.

What do you think about these speculations?
