Xiaomi 16 spotted in certification database. How will it be better than its predecessor?

Fans of the Xiaomi brand have a reason to rejoice. The successor to the current flagship model has appeared in the EEC certification database under the model designation 25113PN0EG, indicating that it is indeed preparing for the global market, including European countries. According to current information, the Xiaomi 16 series should debut first in China as early as September this year, while the global version is expected to arrive in early 2026.

Certification confirms global launch

While the Chinese version of Xiaomi 16 carries the designation 25113PN0EC and the Indian version 25113PN0EI, the European variant with the designation 25113PN0EG has passed the EEC approval process, which is a necessary step before introducing electronic devices to the European market. We observed a similar process with the Xiaomi 15 series, whose global version received EEC certification in May 2024 but only hit the market in March 2025 along with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra model.

It is likely that only the basic Xiaomi 16 model will head to the global market, while Chinese customers will get the complete series including Xiaomi 16 Pro and possibly even the Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini, which has been speculated about in recent days. In our region, the Xiaomi 16 will most likely be introduced at the beginning of next year, accompanied by the camera phone Xiaomi 16 Ultra.

Expected specifications of Xiaomi 16

According to available leaks, the new flagship model should offer a 6.3-inch OLED panel with support for 2K resolution. Under the hood, the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor is expected to be deployed, which should bring a significant performance increase compared to the current generation. A surprise is the alleged 7,000mAh battery, which would mean a significant leap in capacity compared to its predecessor.

The camera should again be a strong point of the device. The main 50Mpx sensor is expected to feature a large 1/1.3-inch sensor for better results in low light conditions. It will be complemented by a 50Mpx ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50Mpx periscope telephoto lens for more advanced zoom. Software-wise, the phone will be powered by HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16.

What does the current Xiaomi 15 offer?

For comparison, the current Xiaomi 15 features a 6.36-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display with a resolution of 2670 × 1200 pixels and a maximum brightness of 3,200 nits. Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor combined with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. The camera uses Leica optics and includes a 50Mpx main sensor, a 50Mpx telephoto lens with a 60mm equivalent focal length, and a 50Mpx ultra-wide-angle camera. Power is supplied by a 5,240mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 16 should therefore bring a number of improvements, including a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, a significantly larger battery with a capacity of around 7,000 mAh, and likely faster charging. An improved photo system with better sensors and enhanced artificial intelligence for image processing is also expected. Within HyperOS 3, we will almost certainly see new AI features.
