Barcelona is the center of the mobile world this week, and we are right here, at Mobile World Congress 2026. Xiaomi prepared a very packed program for Europe’s largest technology fair — literally. The main stars of today are two new flagships forming the Xiaomi 17 series, but the Chinese giant also brought watches, scooters, and televisions.

Three Phones, a New Era of Partnership with Leica

The series consists of two models: Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and also the unique Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi, which is essentially a modified Ultra. The third name hints at something — the collaboration between the two companies this year has shifted from a joint research and development model to so-called “co-creation.” Leica is thus involved in the entire development process, not just the final tuning of optics and colors.

The common foundation for all three models is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset on a 3nm manufacturing process with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. The displays are OLED panels with LTPO technology, adaptive refresh rate of 1–120 Hz, and a maximum brightness of 3,500 nits. Wi-Fi 7, IP68, an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos certification, and the HyperOS 3 system are all present. The Xiaomi HyperRGB technology also appears for the first time on all models — a redesigned arrangement of OLED subpixels promising higher sharpness and lower power consumption.

Xiaomi 17: 191 grams, 6,330 mAh, and a battery from another world

The base model of the series is traditionally relatively compact for today’s standards. 191 grams and a thickness of 8.06 mm with features that essentially have no major compromise. The reason is the new Xiaomi Surge Battery technology with 16% silicon content — which, according to the manufacturer, is a top value in the industry, allowing for greater energy density in a thinner body. The result is a battery with a capacity of 6,330 mAh.

Wired charging goes up to 100 W HyperCharge, wireless at 50 W. The frame is made of 6M42 aluminum with Xiaomi Shield Glass protection, IP68 certification is a given.

The ultra-thin display bezels measure 1.18 mm, and it’s truly an impressive sight in person. Available color variants are Venture Green, Alpine Pink, Ice Blue, and classic Black.

The camera system is built around the main Light Fusion 950 sensor, measuring 1/1.31 inches with 4-in-1 Super Pixel technology and a dynamic range of 13.5 EV. The telephoto lens with Leica optics offers a 60 mm focal length, macro from 10 cm, and 20x AI Ultra Zoom. The new 50Mpx front camera has improved autofocus for both short and longer distances. Video supports 4K at 60 fps in both Dolby Vision and Log format, and can also record in 8K at 30 fps.

Prices: 22,999 CZK for the 12/256 GB variant and 25,499 CZK for 12/512 GB.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra: Mechanical Zoom and the Brand’s First LOFIC Sensor

The Ultra model is in a different league. Despite this, the thickness was kept at 8.29 mm and weight from 218 grams, which is a noteworthy achievement for a model with such a camera system. It is available in Black, White, and Starlit Green.

The key innovation is in the main sensor: it’s the first 1-inch LOFIC chip in Xiaomi’s history. The Light Fusion 1050L sensor uses capacitor technology for a significant increase in pixel capacity and next-generation HDR processing. This year, the Chinese giant prioritized a sensor from OmniVision instead of the traditional Sony. In practice, this means better handling of high-contrast situations and overexposed areas.

But the real bombshell is the telephoto lens: a 200Mpx sensor with mechanical variable optical zoom 75–100 mm. Not digital, but actual mechanical zoom within the focal length range — this is exceptional in the mobile world, though not entirely unique. The lens is based on Leica APO optical standards, and the equivalent focal length reaches up to 400 mm, which is approximately 17.2x, although here we are, of course, talking about digital zoom. Video from the Ultra model goes up to 4K at 120 fps in both Dolby Vision and ACES Log — a shot that even demanding creators will appreciate.

The battery has a capacity of 6,000 mAh with 90W wired charging and 50W wireless HyperCharge. The display is newly equipped with HyperRGB technology and Xiaomi’s own M10 panel, which combines higher brightness with better energy efficiency.

Prices: 35,999 CZK for the 16/512 GB version and 39,999 CZK for 16/1 TB.

Photography Kit: Leica-inspired grip with its own battery

Photographic accessories for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be available in two versions. The basic Photography Kit will offer a more compact design, a wrist strap, a two-stage shutter button, and a separate video button with IP54 certification. The premium Photography Kit Pro goes further: a PU leather grip inspired by Leica camera bodies, an integrated 2,000 mAh battery, a detachable shutter button for individual ergonomics, and a special Fastshot interface for professional control. The Kit Pro is also compatible with the Leica Leitzphone.

Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi: A phone for those for whom even the Ultra isn’t enough

The third model is a category unto itself. It was created as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Leica brand and is hardware-based on the same foundation as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra — but the philosophy is a bit different. The aluminum body with a nickel-anodized finish refers to traditional Leica manufacturing standards.

The physical rotating Leica Camera Ring with a knurled surface mimics working with a real zoom lens. The system comes with a redesigned camera interface developed directly with Leica and a Leica Essential mode, which faithfully emulates the image style of iconic models like the Leica M9 or M3 with MONOPAN 50 film.

It will be available only in black, only in the 16/1 TB version for 48,499 CZK. It’s a phone for a specific audience — for the photography enthusiast who always wants a Leica in their pocket, or for collectors of premium technology. For others, it’s an interesting extravagance on the edge of justification.

Watches with Wear OS, Scooters, and Televisions: Xiaomi Thinks About the Entire Ecosystem

Phones were not the only novelty at the Barcelona conference. Xiaomi also introduced Xiaomi Watch 5 — and one word is key: Wear OS. These are the brand’s third watches built on Google’s platform, which means significantly broader app support and deeper integration with Android. For users of the Xiaomi ecosystem, this is a welcome shift from the previous proprietary system.

The fair also saw the introduction of the new series of electric scooters, Xiaomi Scooter 6, where Xiaomi has a strong long-term position in Europe. And new televisions were also present, strengthening Xiaomi’s position in the smart home market. Here too, details will be provided in future articles.

Introductory Offers and Bonuses: Trade-in, Vacuum Cleaner, or Photography Kit

All three models are on sale from today, February 28, 2026, at mi.com/cz and authorized retailers. Until March 29, an introductory offer applies with a trade-in bonus for an old device of up to 4,500 CZK. Additionally, three packages will come with each purchase: three months of Google AI Pro (with 2 TB of cloud storage), three months of YouTube Premium, and four months of Spotify Premium.

Buyers of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra can choose between a robotic vacuum cleaner Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S40 worth 4,999 CZK or the Photography Kit Pro of the same value. Leica Leitzphone customers will receive both. Details for all promotions are available at xiaomipromo.cz.
