According to the latest leak from the trusted leaker Digital Chat Station on the Chinese social network Weibo, HyperOS 3 will bring a completely revamped visual style inspired by the “Liquid Glass” design language that Apple introduced in iOS 26. However, the Chinese giant will adapt the design language to its own vision and add characteristic elements typical of its ecosystem. The new version of HyperOS is expected to be introduced in October 2025 alongside the Xiaomi 16 series, which will be the first phones to come with this system pre-installed. At the same time, there is speculation that the system could be renamed to HyperOS 26, which would correspond to the numbering of Android 16, on which it will be based. And among other things, also to Apple’s new system naming convention… Liquid Glass Chinese Style: Fewer Effects, More Readability Unlike iOS 26, which relies on prominent lighting effects and vibrant elements, Xiaomi will likely focus on subtler depth and better readability. Internal tests have shown that the company is working very carefully with the level of blur on transparent elements to ensure everything remains easily readable under all circumstances – a problem that the competing iOS is currently facing, although it’s worth noting that it is still in the developer beta phase. Key changes will include a completely revamped Control Center with transparent elements, a new icon style, and improved visual consistency across system applications. Users following the system’s development may have noticed that Xiaomi has been testing partial elements of the new design for several months through surveys in its launcher, including a redesigned home screen with a transparent glass search bar. The update will also include smaller but welcome changes such as updated battery and Wi-Fi icons and smoother animations throughout the system. An important detail is that Xiaomi plans to apply the new design language not only within the system itself but also in its own applications and other software – the change could thus affect other products, including the brand’s cars. How Will It Differ from the Competition? With this redesign, Xiaomi is clearly aiming to create a more premium visual experience while also wanting to maintain customization options. The big question now remains whether this new look will help HyperOS stand out in the crowded field of competitors, and perhaps even overshadow Samsung’s minor UI tweaks in One UI 8. Overlays Are Converging This is not the first time Xiaomi has drawn inspiration from Apple. After all, it’s not alone in this – practically all major brands today inspire each other. The trend of Android overlay design converging with iOS has been evident for several years. Xiaomi Copies Apple: HyperOS 3 Gets Liquid Glass, Here's How It Will Look! Apple introduced “Liquid Glass” only a few weeks ago at its developer conference WWDC 2025, and Xiaomi already has its own version ready. To what extent the result will be original and how much it will be a mere copy, we will see at the latest in October. Fortunately for users who prefer the traditional look, HyperOS 3 will almost certainly offer the option to switch back to the older interface style, as is customary for the brand.
