Owners of Xiaomi 12 series smartphones have received news that no one likes to hear. According to updated data in Xiaomi’s official security center, all three models in this series have been classified as devices with ended support. This means they will no longer receive any system updates, security patches, or new features.

Which models are affected?

The Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12 Lite have been added to the list of devices with ended support. The first two models mentioned conclude their software journey on Android 15 with HyperOS 3.0, which corresponds to three major system updates since their launch with Android 12. The Lite variant is significantly worse off – it remains on Android 14 with HyperOS 1.0.

Along with the Xiaomi 12 series, the Redmi Note 12 5G has also been added to the list of unsupported devices, ending on Android 14 with HyperOS 2.0.

What does this mean for users?

The phones will continue to function without issues; however, the absence of security patches exposes them to new threats. In such a case, Xiaomi recommends upgrading to newer hardware. Those who wish to remain within the brand’s ecosystem and ensure long-term support might consider, for example, the Xiaomi 15 series or the current POCO flagships.
