Chinese Xiaomi has expanded its portfolio with an interesting product for lovers of classic photographs. The Xiaomi Portable Photo Printer Pro portable printer has arrived on the manufacturer’s global website, capable of printing photos from your phone in an instant. Along with it, Xiaomi also introduced an accessory kit including special photo papers and self-adhesive variants.

Dye-sublimation printing with automatic lamination

The new printer uses professional dye-sublimation technology, which transfers colors directly into the paper structure using heat. This allows it to achieve 313 dpi resolution and reproduce up to 16.7 million colors. The print head can be set to 256 intensity levels for each color channel, ensuring smooth transitions and faithful color reproduction.

An interesting feature is integrated automatic lamination. The printer automatically laminates each photo during printing, protecting it from moisture and fading. Photos will thus last for years without visible quality degradation.

Compact dimensions for travel

Xiaomi has focused on portability and practicality. The printer has compact dimensions (142.5 × 86.8 × 26.8 mm), allowing for easy carrying in a backpack or even a coat pocket. It charges via a USB Type-C cable, which you’ll find in the package along with ten sheets of photo paper and an ink cartridge.

The printer connects to your phone via Bluetooth and supports simultaneous connection of up to three users. They must have the Xiaomi Home app installed with an account for device sharing.

AR photos and creative features

The printer surprises with a wealth of creative possibilities. In addition to regular photos, it can also print so-called live photos from Xiaomi phones or iPhone 6S and newer. Using the Scan function in the Xiaomi Home app, you can then bring photos to life.

Most interesting is the support for AR photos, which can contain video up to 15 seconds or an audio track up to 60 seconds long. After scanning the printed photo, the connected content will play in the app. Each account can upload up to 100 AR photos.

There are also personalized frames and watermarks, various templates for collages, or an automatic photo booth mode that automatically creates a collage according to a pre-selected template after taking a photo.

Accessories and consumables

Xiaomi also introduced official accessories for the new printer. This includes three variants of photo paper – packs of 20 or 50 sheets of standard dye-sublimation paper and special self-adhesive photo paper in packs of 50 pieces. The stickers can be easily peeled off and stuck, for example, into an album or onto a refrigerator.

The printer’s tray can hold up to 10 sheets of regular paper or 5 sheets of self-adhesive photos at once. Replacing the ink cartridge is simple – just open the cover, remove the old cartridge using the orange latch, and insert a new one.

Xiaomi has not yet announced the price or availability in Europe. If you are interested in portable photo printers, you can view the current offer on the Czech market.
