Xiaomi has expanded its accessory lineup with the compact Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2. This new product targets users looking for a portable speaker at a minimal price – in China, it costs just 99 yuan, which translates to approximately 290 Czech crowns. For this amount, you get a surprisingly well-equipped device with a durable construction.

Compact dimensions for travel

The Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 primarily impresses with its miniature dimensions and a weight of just 200 grams. Xiaomi has equipped it with a detachable metal hook, allowing you to easily attach it to a backpack or belt. The body is covered with a fabric coating, which should be pleasant to the touch while also protecting the internal electronics.

The manufacturer offers three color variants – black, green, and orange. All versions have non-slip feet on the bottom for stable placement on a flat surface.

Surprising features for a low price

Xiaomi has built a 1.5-inch driver with 5W of power into the speaker. This is certainly not an exceptionally high value, but if your primary goal is not to listen to music from your phone’s integrated speakers while traveling, then it will be perfectly sufficient. It also includes a passive bass radiator, which is designed to improve low-frequency reproduction. Bluetooth 5.3 is used for wireless connectivity.

An interesting feature is TWS pairing support – if you buy two units, you can connect them into a stereo setup. The speaker also includes a microSD card slot for playing music without needing to connect to a phone. There’s also a USB sound card mode, where you can connect the speaker to a computer or tablet via cable as an external audio output.

The Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 has received IP67 certification, meaning it can withstand dust and immersion in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes. This means you don’t have to worry about taking the speaker to the pool, the beach, or on a hike in nature.

The built-in battery with a capacity of 1000 mAh is sufficient for 5 hours of continuous playback, according to the manufacturer. Charging takes place via a modern USB Type-C connector.

Who is the speaker suitable for

The Redmi Bluetooth Speaker 2 primarily targets undemanding users who are looking for a basic portable speaker at the lowest possible price. It is suitable as a backup speaker for travel, for the bathroom, or as an inexpensive gift. Thanks to its durable construction and hanging hook, the device will also be appreciated by hikers and cyclists.

Of course, you cannot expect audiophile-grade sound quality from a speaker costing three hundred crowns. However, it will be sufficient for listening to podcasts, audiobooks, or background music during a picnic.
