Xiaomi has started selling a new air fryer in the Czech Republic. It can also steam cook and connect to your phone

The hot air fryer has found its place in many Czech kitchens in recent years, and Xiaomi is now adding another discipline to it. The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Steam Air Fryer 7L, which we wrote about in April, combines hot air frying with steam cooking, so you can cleverly prepare vegetables with it too. The manufacturer offers it here for a recommended 4,499 CZK, but on Alza, you can get it for 4,199 CZK.

How does the air fryer steam cook?

On the top of the appliance is a 1.5-liter water tank, from which a 900W steam system produces 130 °C steam in a few seconds. According to Xiaomi, 500g of broccoli can be cooked in 8 minutes, while a classic electric steamer takes 12 minutes. One tank refill should last approximately 90 minutes of operation, which the manufacturer calculates as seven servings of vegetables per water refill.

The steam remains in the closed basket, and condensed water circulates inside, so you don’t need any condensate container to empty after each cooking session. The most interesting feature is the combined mode, where steam meets hot air – according to the manufacturer, meat should remain juicy inside while being baked crispy on the outside. Steam can also be used for reheating, including pastries, which would otherwise dry out with hot air.

What all can you cook in it?

The air fryer offers 10 cooking functions: in addition to hot air frying, steaming, and their combination, it can bake, cook sous vide, proof dough, dry fruit, defrost, and reheat. You can set the temperature between 30 and 230 °C, and there’s a separate mode for a maximally crispy result.

According to Xiaomi, the 7-liter basket can fit a whole chicken, 800g of fries, or 24 chicken wings. The package also includes a rack, allowing you to cook in two layers at once. Hot air circulates around the basket, so food should cook evenly without needing to be turned halfway through preparation.

It is controlled by a rotary knob and an LCD display, where 25 preset recipes await. The air fryer supports Xiaomi HyperOS Connect, so you can pair it with the Xiaomi Home app and its more than a hundred online recipes. Additionally, you can check food preparation through a seven-inch transparent window without having to pull out the basket.

Stainless steel interior, PFAS-free surface

The interior is made of 304 stainless steel, and the non-stick surface of the basket is PFAS-free, which Xiaomi substantiates with an SGS laboratory test. After cooking, you can initiate a drying cycle with one touch to prevent mold growth, and a separate mode removes odors so that today’s fish doesn’t affect tomorrow’s cake.

If you pull out the basket during cooking, the air fryer automatically turns off, allowing you to safely add ingredients. The finished food can then be kept warm for up to 30 minutes, in case the family doesn’t gather at the table on time.

However, keep in mind that it will take up more counter space than a regular air fryer. It measures 40.4 × 30.3 × 36.7 cm and weighs 7.8 kg, so you probably won’t be putting it away in a cabinet after every use. The power consumption is 1,850 W.

How much does it cost in the Czech Republic?

Xiaomi offers the air fryer on its Czech website for a recommended 4,499 CZK. However, Alza sells it for 4,199 CZK, which is three hundred crowns cheaper. You can order it there now, but the first units are still in transit, and the e-shop expects them to be in stock around October 16th.

In April, we estimated that the price could range between two and three thousand crowns. The reality is significantly higher, but for that price, you get both an air fryer and a steamer with smart control in one appliance, so you can save one device on your counter.
