Lost keys or the need to let a visitor in when you’re not home – these are situations that smart locks address. Xiaomi is now introducing another addition to its smart home product lineup in the Chinese market. The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock G100 has appeared on the Youpin platform with a price of 1,099 yuan, which translates to approximately 3,400 CZK.

Nine ways to open the door

The main attraction of the new lock is nine different unlocking methods. At the heart of the product is an AI fingerprint reader with a stated recognition success rate of 99.29%. Additionally, you can unlock the door via a numeric keypad, which supports both permanent and temporary PIN codes. An NFC reader compatible with a phone, watch, or card (which must be purchased separately) is also available.

For remote control, Bluetooth or the Mi Home app can be used. And if all electronics fail, there’s also a classic backup key for emergencies. The lock uses a Class C security cylinder with an integrated clutch directly in the lock body.

Smart features and security elements

The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock G100 supports Xiaomi HyperOS Connect and features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Through the app, you can remotely manage the lock, monitor unlocking history, or receive notifications if someone leaves the door open or attempts to tamper with the lock.

Also worth mentioning is the emergency fingerprint function. The user can pre-set a special fingerprint, the use of which during unlocking will trigger a silent call to a pre-determined phone number. In case of danger, you can call for help without a potential attacker noticing.

Power supply and operating conditions

The lock is powered by four AA batteries, which should last up to 12 months with normal use. In case of depletion, a USB-C port is available at the bottom of the lock for emergency power from a power bank. Operating temperatures range from -25 to +55 °C, so the lock can handle even Czech winter conditions.

We already have the Self-Install Smart Lock in the Czech Republic

Whether the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock G100 will ever officially come to Europe is not yet clear. In the Czech Republic, however, Xiaomi recently started selling a different model – the Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Lock, priced at 2,499 CZK. This one works on a different principle: it simply attaches to an existing cylinder lock, so you don’t need a locksmith or a drill.

The Self-Install Smart Lock supports the Matter protocol, making it compatible with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. You can unlock it via Bluetooth (just have your phone in your pocket) or remotely via Wi-Fi. The version with a keypad, priced at 2,999 CZK, adds a fingerprint reader and the option to enter PIN codes. The battery lasts approximately half a year and recharges via USB-C.

Are you considering purchasing a smart lock, or do classic keys suit you just fine?
