According to Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, the new device has ambitions to compete with more expensive flagships. The brand is clearly targeting potential iPhone buyers – this year marks its second premium-equipped smartphone with the Pro Max moniker (the first belonged to the flagship Xiaomi 17 series). Let’s take a closer look at why this new product is worth attention. Premium Design with a Unique Speaker Cameras with Redmi's First 5× Telephoto Lens Top-tier Display and Performance Other Premium Features Price and Availability Premium Design with a Unique Speaker The Redmi K90 Pro Max immediately impresses with its premium craftsmanship featuring an aluminum frame and three color variants. Available are a subtly appearing black, an elegant white, and a special denim edition with third-generation technological nano-leather. This version is slightly thicker (8.3 mm) and heavier (220 g) than the standard version, which measures 163.3 × 77.8 × 7.99 mm and weighs 218 grams. Undoubtedly, the most interesting design element is the visible speaker on the back, labeled “Sound by BOSE”. The phone is the very first on the market to feature a 2.1 stereo system with three independent speakers tuned by the notoriously known American audio equipment manufacturer. Cameras with Redmi’s First 5× Telephoto Lens In terms of camera equipment, the Redmi K90 Pro Max probably brings the biggest upgrade in the series’ history. The main 50Mpx Light Hunter 950 sensor, with a size of 1/1.31″ and an aperture of f/1.67, offers 24% higher light sensitivity compared to its predecessor, making it much better for shooting night scenes. Of course, it also features optical image stabilization. However, the biggest novelty is the 50Mpx Samsung ISOCELL JN5 telephoto lens with 5× optical zoom – no such camera has appeared in a Redmi device before. The telephoto lens further supports 10× lossless zoom, up to 20× UltraZoom, and also boasts optical stabilization. It is complemented by a 50Mpx ultra-wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.4. Top-tier Display and Performance The phone is equipped with a 6.9″ Super Pixel OLED display with a resolution of 2608 × 1200 pixels, which uses the same technology as the aforementioned Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Each pixel contains independent red, green, and blue subpixels, achieving a density of 938.9 million subpixels. The display offers a 120Hz refresh rate and excellent brightness of up to 3,500 nits. Under the hood, the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, manufactured with a 3nm process and clocked up to 4.6 GHz, is at work. It is complemented by an independent D2 graphics chip for enhanced gaming performance. The memory configuration includes LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage in configurations up to 16 GB + 1 TB. In terms of performance, the new Redmi device can easily match more expensive flagship phones. The Redmi K90 Pro Max also houses a massive 7,560mAh battery with Xiaomi Golden River technology. It supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W reverse charging for powering accessories. Other Premium Features The phone offers IP68 and IP69 certification for maximum durability, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader for quick unlocking even with wet fingers, support for 5G-A networks, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a USB 3.2 Gen1 port. It’s probably not too surprising that the Redmi K90 Pro Max runs on the latest HyperOS 3 overlay. Price and Availability In China, the Redmi K90 Pro Max is sold in the following configurations: 12 GB + 256 GB for 3999 yuan (approx. 11,800 CZK) 12 GB + 512 GB for 4499 yuan (approx. 13,200 CZK) 16 GB + 512 GB for 4799 yuan (approx. 14,100 CZK) 16 GB + 1 TB for 5299 yuan (approx. 15,600 CZK) According to unconfirmed speculation, the phone could later be introduced as POCO F8 Ultra, which would mean availability in Europe, including the Czech Republic.
