Xiaomi is expanding its audio product portfolio with an interesting new item for those who spend a lot of time at the computer and appreciate quality sound. The manufacturer’s global website has revealed the Xiaomi Desktop Speaker Pro Set, which debuted in China under the name Redmi Computer Speaker 2 Pro Set. The combination of a main speaker with a wireless subwoofer is designed to offer a sophisticated sound experience and an RGB atmosphere on the desktop.

Four Drivers and Tilted Design

The main speaker relies on a horizontal four-driver setup, consisting of two 10W oval drivers complemented by a pair of passive radiators. Xiaomi opted for an unconventional 53° upward tilt, which is designed to better match the natural ear position when sitting at a desk. This reportedly makes the sound feel more spacious and spread more evenly throughout the room.

The wireless subwoofer features a 96mm long-throw driver with a tuned bass reflex port, allowing it to handle bass frequencies down to 60 Hz. It communicates with the main speaker via a low-latency 2.4GHz wireless connection, thus avoiding undesirable delays. The subwoofer has its own power supply and automatically synchronizes volume and sound effects with the main unit.

Five Sound Modes for Various Situations

Sound processing is handled by a DSP processor, which offers five preset equalizers. Music mode aims for faithful music reproduction, Bass emphasizes low frequencies, while Vocals enhances the human voice for audiobooks or video calls. Gamers will appreciate Game mode with its emphasis on spatial orientation in games, while Movie is designed to provide a wider stereo image when watching films.

RGB Backlighting with Six Effects

The main speaker houses 24 RGB LED diodes, with the subwoofer adding another five. Six lighting effects are available, including new ones like Starlight twinkle and enhanced versions of Party 2.0, Rainbow 2.0, Aurora 2.0, Fireplace 2.0, and Colour breath 2.0. The backlighting reacts to music and can be controlled along with the sound modes.

Three Connection Methods and Built-in Microphone

The set supports USB, Bluetooth 5.3, or AUX connections, allowing you to connect it to a computer, phone, or tablet. It includes a built-in microphone with AEC technology (echo cancellation), useful for video calls. On the back, you’ll also find a 3.5mm input for an external microphone, which streamers or podcasters will appreciate.

Control is managed by a multi-function knob on the side of the main speaker, complemented by two buttons on top. For more advanced sound and lighting settings, the Xiaomi C-HUB application is available for both Windows and macOS.

When will it arrive here?

Xiaomi has not yet disclosed the price or specific availability date for European markets. Given that the product has appeared on the global website, a gradual expansion to other countries can be expected. In China, the set sells for approximately 1,500 crowns in conversion, so here it could therefore cost something between two and three thousand.

Would you get such a speaker set for your desk?
