Xiaomi is making its way into kitchens. Its new capsule coffee machine could also come to the Czech Republic

Capsule coffee machines have gained a firm foothold in households worldwide over the last decade. They attract with their simple preparation and consistent results – just insert a capsule, press a button, and in a few seconds, you’re done. Xiaomi previously entered this market with its own capsule coffee machines, but they were officially only available in China. Now, however, it has introduced the Mijia Capsule Coffee Machine on its global website, which could eventually come to the Czech Republic as well.

Italian Pump and Fast Preheating

The heart of the coffee machine is an ULKA pump with a pressure of 19 bars, which comes from the Italian manufacturer CEME S.P.A. This type of pump can also be found in premium brand coffee machines. Xiaomi further emphasizes fast preheating in just 25 seconds thanks to a 1,360 W heating system. The combination of an NTC temperature sensor and a PID algorithm ensures stable water temperature, which is designed to provide a balanced taste without excessive bitterness.

Kávovar nabízí dva přednastavené objemy – 40 ml a 110 ml, což odpovídá klasickému espressu a lungu. Oba objemy si můžete přizpůsobit podle vlastních preferencí v rozmezí přibližně 15–80 ml pro malý šálek a 15–180 ml pro velký. Stačí podržet tlačítko tři sekundy a následně ho zmáčknout ve chvíli, kdy kávovar nalije požadované množství.

Compact Design and Practical Accessories

With dimensions of 33.2 × 9.0 × 21.2 cm, the Mijia Capsule Coffee Machine takes up approximately as much space as an A4 sheet of paper. The manufacturer states an extraction noise level of only 55 dB(A), so morning coffee preparation should not wake the rest of the household. The removable water tank holds 650 ml, and the cup tray is height-adjustable in two positions for containers up to 88 mm or 108 mm.

Zajímavým doplňkem je odnímatelný magnetický držák na 20 kapslí, který lze přichytit přímo na boční stranu kávovaru nebo na jakoukoli kovovou plochu – třeba na lednici. Kávovar se po deseti minutách nečinnosti automaticky vypne, což šetří energii.

Which Capsules Fit It?

Xiaomi na svém webu explicitně neuvádí, s jakým systémem kapslí je kávovar kompatibilní. Na základě technických parametrů lze nicméně s jistotou říct, že jde o systém Nespresso Original. Nasvědčuje tomu hned několik indicií: tlak 19 barů je přesně standard tohoto systému, přednastavené objemy 40 ml a 110 ml odpovídají espressu a lungu v definici Nespresso a čerpadlo ULKA je typickým dodavatelem právě pro tento formát.

This is good news for users. The Nespresso Original system has the widest range of compatible capsules on the market – from original Nespresso to brands like Starbucks, L’Or, Jacobs, or Lavazza, and even private label supermarket brands including Lidl or Albert. Xiaomi likely doesn’t state the system name due to licensing fees, but functional compatibility is practically certain.

It is important to mention that capsule systems are not interchangeable. Dolce Gusto, Tassimo, or Nespresso Vertuo capsules do not belong in this coffee machine – they differ in shape, size, and extraction method.

Will it arrive in the Czech Republic?

Xiaomi kávovar zatím představilo pouze na globálním webu bez uvedení ceny nebo konkrétních trhů. Podobný postup značka volí u produktů, které plánuje postupně rozšířit do dalších zemí včetně Evropy. Vzhledem k tomu, že Xiaomi v posledních týdnech do Česka přineslo vícero produktů pod značkou Mijia, které jsou určené pro domácnosti a nejsou přímo chytré – psali jsme třeba o sadě nářadí nebo aku vrtačce – je možné, že kávovar dorazí i k nám.

The price remains a question. Since Xiaomi itself has not yet announced it, we can only speculate. We assume that if the product were introduced to our market, it could cost something around 1,500 to 2,000 CZK.
