Xiaomi is preparing three phones with 10,000mAh batteries! And at least two of them are reportedly coming to Europe

  • Digital Chat Station claims that Redmi is working on three phones with 10,000mAh batteries
  • These will be single-cell batteries with support for 100W wired charging; the models will be found in both the Note series and the more powerful K series
  • One drawback — we will most likely not see single-cell batteries of this capacity in Europe

Two days ago, we reported that the global version of the upcoming Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is expected to get a 9,210mAh battery, while the Chinese variant will have a full 10,100 mAh. We left the question of why this difference open at the time. A new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station now provides context — and also reveals that the Note 17 Pro Max will not be the only device to house such a massive battery.

Three Phones, One Powerful Battery

According to a Weibo post, Redmi is preparing a total of three models with a 10,000mAh battery. The phones are expected to span across the portfolio — some will fall into the mainstream Note series, and some into the more powerful K family, which focuses mainly on gamers and users demanding higher performance. All three models are said to feature 100W wired charging, according to the leak, so the large capacity won’t have to be offset by desperately slow charging speeds.

The leaker has not yet revealed specific names or release dates. Generally, new generations of Redmi Note are traditionally introduced in China in the second half of the year, while the K series typically arrives towards the end of the year.

Why Europeans Won’t Get 10,000 mAh

And now for the catch. Digital Chat Station specifies that the new batteries will be based on a single-cell design — meaning one large cell, not two smaller connected ones. While this technology allows for a record capacity to be packed into a phone’s body while maintaining a reasonable thickness, it runs into European regulations for the transport of lithium batteries. For this reason, single-cell batteries above approximately 9,000 mAh practically do not make it into the EU.

This also clarifies why the upcoming Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will offer “only” 9,210 mAh in its European version, while getting 10,100 mAh back home in China. It will likely run on a dual-cell design, which can cross borders without problems — at the cost of slightly less capacity and typically a few tenths of a millimeter thicker body.

Chance for a European Debut via Poco?

The K series is traditionally a Chinese exclusivity, but parts of its portfolio make their way to global markets in disguise — most often as Poco models.

If one of the upcoming models with a 10,000mAh battery falls into the K series, we might see it here as a rebranded Poco — but full capacity cannot be expected. For the reasons mentioned above, European customers would most likely receive a dual-cell variant with a lower value, similar to the Note 17 Pro Max.

Would a phone with a ten-thousand-mAh battery be worth it for you, even if it were a few millimeters thicker?
