Xiaomi is testing a Redmi phone with an 8500mAh battery! The question is whether it will make it to Europe too… Home News Xiaomi is testing a Redmi with a battery between 8500 and 9000 mAh while maintaining a thickness of 8.5 mm Honor is preparing a phone with a 10000 mAh battery – the largest in a mainstream phone Chinese brands have started a race to cram a bigger battery into a phone Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 9. 8. 2025 08:30 Advertisement Remember the times when we cheered for a 6000 mAh battery in a phone? According to a fresh leak, Xiaomi is testing a Redmi phone with a capacity somewhere between 8500 and 9000 mAh. And to top it off, Honor is about to make a statement with a round 10000 mAh. It looks like Chinese brands have declared war on the power bank industry. Redmi with a battery that lasts several days The information was released by the well-known leaker Digital Chat Station, according to whom Xiaomi is already internally testing the phone. Interestingly, the company uses its own developed battery, which should not suffer from rapid degradation during charging. The most surprising thing, however, is the thickness – the phone is said to be only 8.5 mm thick, which is standard for current Redmi phones. The current king in Xiaomi’s portfolio is the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro with 7550 mAh, which was released earlier this year. If the new model reaches 9000 mAh, we are talking about an increase of almost 20 percent. In practice, this could easily mean a four-day battery life with normal use. KOUPIT TELEFON REDMI Honor goes for ten thousand – because why not? While Xiaomi is testing, Honor is preparing to play an even bigger card. According to leaks from China, it is working on a phone with a 10000 mAh battery. It will most likely be the Honor Power 2, the successor to the Power model, which came with “only” 8000 mAh this April. Chinese battery fever in full swing It’s not just Xiaomi and Honor. iQOO already sells phones with 8000 mAh, and other brands are testing similar capacities. An interesting trend is emerging here – while Western manufacturers are figuring out how to make a phone a millimeter thinner, the Chinese are figuring out how to cram more energy into it. And honestly? It makes sense. Who cares if a phone is two millimeters thicker if it lasts two days longer? Most people use cases anyway. Will they even reach us? That is the question But here we encounter the eternal problem of Chinese phones. What they sell at home, they often don’t send to Europe. And if they do, it’s in stripped-down versions. The reasons are various – European certifications, customs limits, weight restrictions for air transport. But the result is always the same: we get a cut-down version. So even if Xiaomi actually produced a Redmi with a 9000 mAh battery, it could easily happen that the European version will have “only” 7000 mAh. Which is still a lot, but it’s not the promised nine thousand. KOUPIT TELEFON REDMI Anyway, it’s nice to see that someone is still innovating in a different direction than just AI and cameras. Maybe one day we will truly have phones that we charge once a week. Would you appreciate a phone with an 8500mAh battery?
