Xiaomi launched an extremely cheap projector with FullHD image, speakers, and autofocus

Along with the more premium Redmi Projector 4 Pro model, Xiaomi also introduced the basic variant Redmi Projector 4 in China, targeting even more budget-conscious customers. The new product sells for 999 yuan, which translates to approximately 2,900 CZK – making it about 1,500 CZK cheaper than the Pro model. Despite the lower price, it retains key features, including automatic focusing using a ToF laser.

Lower brightness, but still FullHD image

The Redmi Projector 4 uses a closed optical system with a native resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, which corresponds to FullHD image quality. The main difference compared to its more expensive sibling is the brightness of 360 CVIA lumens instead of 600 lumens. Even so, the new product is almost 40% brighter than the previous generation.

The projector retains support for MEMC motion compensation, which ensures smooth display of fast-moving objects. Thanks to intelligent frame insertion between original shots, it eliminates image tearing during sports broadcasts or action scenes.

Integrated speakers and ToF module are present

The presence of a ToF laser module for autofocus is also a welcome feature. The system, combined with artificial intelligence, ensures precise image focusing without the need for manual adjustment. The projector also supports automatic keystone correction and image adaptation to obstacles in the projection area.

Cost savings are reflected in the audio system, where instead of a pair of 8W speakers from the Pro version, we find two 5W speakers. For casual viewing, they will provide sufficient sound, but more demanding users will appreciate the option to connect external speakers via the 3.5mm audio output.

The price is exceptionally attractive

With a price of around 3,000 CZK in conversion, the Redmi Projector 4 represents a very attractive Full HD projector in Xiaomi’s current lineup. The Pro version, for an extra cost, primarily offers higher brightness of 600 CVIA lumens and more powerful speakers, which will be appreciated by users with a larger projection area or a less darkened room.

Whether the new product will make it to the Czech market is currently unclear. If Xiaomi were to decide to bring it to countries outside of China, it would likely change its name.
