Xiaomi yesterday introduced the Pad Mini – a tablet that finally offers a complete alternative to the iPad Mini. But unfortunately, it won’t arrive in the Czech Republic… And it’s a damn shame. After years of all manufacturers competing to make a bigger slab, someone finally came to their senses. Small tablets make sense – they are light, fit into a bag or a larger pocket, and still offer more space than a phone. David among Goliaths, or why smaller means better Performance that shames even its bigger brothers A price that makes sense (if it were here) So what do we get instead? David among Goliaths, or why smaller means better The Pad Mini has an 8.8-inch display, which is just right for reading in bed without dropping it on your face. It weighs 326 grams. For comparison, typical 11-inch tablets are close to half a kilogram, and holding them with one hand for an extended period is a workout worthy of a gym. Proportionality is key. Xiaomi chose an aspect ratio of 16:10, which is perfect for watching videos. The iPad Mini, with its almost square display, will steal a third of your screen with black bars when watching Netflix. The Pad Mini utilizes every pixel. The accessories are also ingenious. The case has a hand strap on the back, which also functions as a stand. No complicated origami with magnetic covers – you just slide your hand through, and the tablet stays put. Or you can set it on a table and have the perfect angle for video. Performance that shames even its bigger brothers Inside, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ ticks, which is essentially the best MediaTek currently has. It’s not some stripped-down chip for cheap tablets – this is a full-fledged flagship processor that can handle anything. Display? 3K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate, plus Xiaomi added Dolby Vision support and a brightness of 700 nits. KOUPIT XIAOMI NOVINKY The battery has a capacity of 7,500 mAh with 67W charging. In half an hour, you have a full battery that lasts all day of intensive use. A price that makes sense (if it were here) The Pad Mini starts at 429 dollars, which is roughly 9 thousand Czech crowns. For that money, you get 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. So what do we get instead? The Redmi Pad 2 Pro is heading to the Czech Republic. It boasts a 12.1-inch LCD panel, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, and a 12,000 mAh battery. We covered it in more detail in a separate article. Would you buy the Xiaomi Pad Mini?
