Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S40 Pro costs only 6 thousand, yet it has high suction power and extendable arms for corner cleaning

Following the successful launch of the basic model Robot Vacuum S40, which arrived in the Czech Republic in September for 4,999 CZK, Xiaomi is now introducing a more powerful version, the S40 Pro. The improved model brings stronger 15,000 Pa suction power, advanced extendable mechanical brushes for corner cleaning, and automatic mop lifting upon carpet detection. The new product is available at the authorized e-shop mistore.cz for 6,290 CZK, and is expected to appear at other retailers soon.

Main improvements over the basic model

While the basic Robot Vacuum S40 offers 10,000 Pa suction power, the Pro version increases this value to 15,000 Pa. Xiaomi has integrated a high-speed fan with aerospace-grade aluminum-magnesium alloy blades into the improved model, which effectively removes hair, fine dust, and everyday dirt from floors.

A key new feature is the two extendable mechanical arms, which dynamically extend and retract the side brush and mopping pad. Upon corner detection, the side brush actively extends, reaching zero distance from edges. The mopping pad can get as close as 1 mm to walls, ensuring thorough cleaning of room edges.

Anti-tangle hair technology works on two levels

The S40 Pro model utilizes an innovative Y-shaped roller brush in combination with an anti-tangle side brush. The first row of bristles blocks hair, the second row with a Y-design untangles it, the third row collects it, and finally, the 15,000 Pa suction power draws it into the dustbin. Integrated end caps tightly seal the sides of the roller brush, preventing hair from being drawn in from the sides.

The dual rotating mopping pads operate at 180 revolutions per minute, simulating the movement of a human hand during mopping. The water tank offers three flow levels, keeping the mops optimally damp for thorough cleaning without leaving water marks.

Intelligent carpet recognition and advanced navigation

The robotic vacuum cleaner is equipped with ultrasonic sensors that automatically detect carpets and lift the mopping pads by 10 mm. Simultaneously, they activate the automatic suction power increase function to remove dust from deep carpet fibers. The app offers four carpet cleaning modes – priority vacuuming, carpet avoidance, crossing, or ignoring.

For obstacle detection, the S40 Pro uses structured light with a 129° field of view, which recognizes low-lying obstacles with millimeter precision. Anti-drop sensors detect stairs and edges, while LDS laser navigation performs a 360° scan of the area to quickly create an accurate map. The vacuum cleaner can overcome thresholds up to 20 mm high.

Battery life covers large households

With a 5,200 mAh battery, the S40 Pro can clean an area of up to 180 m² on a single charge. The dustbin has a capacity of 430 ml, and the water tank holds 310 ml. Upon completing cleaning, the robot automatically returns to the charging station and retracts the mopping pads to prevent secondary contamination.

Through the Xiaomi Home app, cleaning schedules, forbidden zones, virtual walls, or targeted cleaning of specific furniture can be set. The app displays the cleaning progress, including the estimated completion time. The robot supports voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
