Sharp image day and night

The camera features a 5Mpx sensor with a resolution of 2960 × 1666 pixels, which Xiaomi refers to as 3K quality. The image remains sharp even in low light conditions thanks to color night vision in low light. When the light completely disappears, infrared illumination turns on for black and white footage.

The HDR function helps with backlighting. The camera can capture usable footage even when the sun shines directly into the lens or when it stands against a window. The technology preserves details in both bright and dark parts of the image.

Hardware privacy protection

The C500 Pro model includes an MJA1 security chip with its own private key. All data passes through this chip and is encrypted using AES-128. Xiaomi has also added a physical lens cover – when the camera is not in use, the lens rotates upwards into the housing and mechanically covers the sensor.

You can control the cover remotely via the Mi Home app and set automatic activation times. The camera will then cover itself, for example, when you come home from work.

AI recognizes people and pets

The camera’s artificial intelligence can recognize people and track their movement around the room. Pet detection works similarly – as soon as the camera detects your dog or cat, it sends a notification to your phone. Other AI features include baby crying detection and loud noise recognition.

In the app, you can set up to 6 primary areas for monitoring. The camera then only reports movement in these zones and ignores the rest of the footage.

360-degree rotation covers the entire room

Thanks to two motors, the camera lens rotates 360° horizontally and 114° vertically. This allows you to monitor the entire room without blind spots. The camera offers two automatic tracking modes – panoramic surveillance across the entire room or monitoring selected areas at set times.

The built-in speaker enables two-way voice communication. You can talk to people at home or check on pets. Last but not least, the camera works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control.

Flexible recording storage

You can store recordings in three ways – on a MicroSD card up to 256 GB, on NAS network storage, or in the cloud (paid service). The camera supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and uses the H.265 codec to save space while maintaining quality.
