Xiaomi Sound 2 Max: When you want Hi-Fi sound but don't want to pay a premium price Home News Xiaomi Sound 2 Max offers 100W power and 4 drivers in an aluminum body Supports stereo pairing of up to 4 speakers, but lacks AirPlay and Chromecast Currently only in China - likely won't make it to Europe Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 27. 9. 2025 10:30 Advertisement Xiaomi is no longer just about phones. The new Sound 2 Max speaker shows that the Chinese company is serious about premium audio. With four drivers, 100W of power, and an aluminum body, it looks like a competitor to Sonos. However, the price (approximately 6,000 CZK converted) suggests that Xiaomi is aiming more for the mid-range. Four drivers, four amplifiers, no compromise? Stereo, surround, but no subwoofer Connectivity: WiFi 6 yes, AirPlay no Three covers, one style Availability: China yes, rest of the world maybe Four drivers, four amplifiers, no compromise? The Sound 2 Max is no portable Bluetooth speaker for a backpack. With dimensions of 36 × 20 × 13.5 cm and a weight of 8 kilograms, it’s a proper home speaker. Inside, you’ll find two 4-inch bass drivers, each with a 30W amplifier, plus a coaxial mid-bass driver (30W) and a tweeter (10W). The frequency range of 47 Hz to 22 kHz is not bad, although don’t expect true bass below 40 Hz. The maximum volume of 101 dB is sufficient to fill a larger room with sound. Stereo, surround, but no subwoofer An interesting feature is the ability to pair up to 4 speakers into a surround setup. Two units create a stereo pair, while four provide spatial sound. It’s a shame that Xiaomi doesn’t offer a dedicated subwoofer. Control is simple – you’ll find playback and volume buttons on top. In the app, you can fine-tune the sound using the equalizer. Built-in microphones allow for voice control, but only via the Chinese AI assistant. Connectivity: WiFi 6 yes, AirPlay no Here, Xiaomi disappointed a bit. The Sound 2 Max supports Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6, which is great. It also has classic RCA connectors and USB-C for wired connection. However, it lacks support for Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. Instead, Xiaomi pushes its own proprietary protocol. This means complications for iPhone users and limited streaming options. Three covers, one style The design is minimalist and elegant. The aluminum body feels premium, and you can choose the front cover in three variants – fabric, metal, or wood. The wooden variant looks the most interesting and gives the speaker a retro touch. Overall, the Sound 2 Max looks like something that could sit in a living room next to an LG or Samsung TV. It’s not an RGB-lit box for teenagers, but a mature product for people who appreciate both design and sound. Availability: China yes, rest of the world maybe The Sound 2 Max is currently sold only in China. Xiaomi often tests premium products domestically before releasing them globally. However, some remain there forever. What do you think of the Xiaomi speaker?
