Xiaomi to unveil practical display for home control. It also features a camera

Xiaomi announced the new Smart Home Screen 8 PTZ Edition in China, designed to simplify smart home control. The device combines an 8-inch touchscreen display with a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera located at the top. Thanks to HyperOS Connect support, all compatible devices can be connected and controlled from one place.

What is a smart home screen for?

A central control panel can replace various home control applications on a smartphone and simultaneously allows all residents to manipulate devices without needing to set specific permissions for their accounts. Instead of searching for the right app for lights, heating, or cameras, you have all controls in one place. The display shows the current temperature, security status, or energy consumption. Thanks to the integrated PTZ camera with 360° rotation capability, you can also monitor the entire room.

Xiaomi has not yet announced pricing or availability outside of China. Along with this model, the company is also preparing a larger Smart Home Screen Max 27 with a 27″ display and a 9,700 mAh battery, which can last up to 13 days in standby mode.

Alternative Available in the Czech Republic

If you don’t want to wait for the potential arrival of Xiaomi products, you can already buy the AQARA Panel Hub S1 Plus in the Czech Republic. This device offers a 6.9″ touchscreen display with a resolution of 1440 × 720 pixels and functions as a central hub for smart home control. It supports voice assistants Siri, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa and communicates via the ZigBee 3.0 protocol.

The AQARA panel allows you to control lights, heating, cameras, and other devices. The display automatically activates upon approach thanks to a motion sensor. Integrated microphones enable voice control up to a distance of 10 meters. In the application, you can monitor the energy consumption of individual devices and create automation scenarios.
