When Xiaomi introduced the new generation of its compact stick, few expected that a small device for 1,200 crowns would outperform Google’s flagship. But that’s exactly what happened. The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd generation) in benchmarks outperforms the almost 3× more expensive Google TV Streamer 4K – in both CPU and GPU tests.

The Chipset Works Wonders

The performance leap is due to the Amlogic S905X5M chipset, which Xiaomi used in its latest stick. In Geekbench 6 tests, the device achieves 1,078 points in the single-core test and 2,695 points in multi-core. These are identical results to the Xiaomi Box S (3rd gen).

For comparison: Google TV Streamer 4K, which costs from 2,719 CZK in the Czech Republic, achieved only 917 points in the single-core and 2,527 points in the multi-core test. The difference is not huge, but it’s interesting that Google couldn’t even beat a competitor three times cheaper.

GPU is Not Far Behind Either

Graphical performance is even more significant. In the GFXBench T-Rex (Offscreen) test, the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd gen) scored 1,957 points, while the Google TV Streamer achieved only 1,031 points. That’s almost a twofold difference. In practice, this means smoother system animations, faster loading of video previews, and a generally more responsive environment.

Where Xiaomi Saved Costs

To fit within the low price, Xiaomi had to make concessions somewhere. The TV Stick 4K (2nd gen) has only 2 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. This is the minimum that still works – the system takes up most of the space, leaving only a few gigabytes for applications. If you plan to install dozens of apps or download games, you’ll soon hit limits.

An alternative is the slightly more expensive Xiaomi Box S (3rd gen), which offers identical performance but has 32 GB of storage. While it’s larger in size (it’s not a stick, but a classic box), it offers space for more demanding users.

Price in the Czech Republic: A Clear Choice

In the Czech market, you can find the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd gen) from 1,125 CZK (according to Heureka). The Google TV Streamer 4K costs from 2,719 CZK. For more than double the price, you get weaker performance, but a nicer design, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, and integration into the Google ecosystem (including a Matter hub).

However, if you’re simply looking for the cheapest way to get Google TV on your television without waiting for every click, the Xiaomi stick is a clear choice. The menu runs smoothly, apps like Netflix or YouTube launch quickly, and it handles 4K content without issues.

In any case, it’s fascinating that a small device for a thousand crowns can offer performance comparable to flagships in 2025. The Amlogic S905X5M has set a new standard – and Xiaomi has utilized it best.
