Xiaomi unveiled a new robotic vacuum cleaner. It vacuums, mops, and costs a fraction of what you'd expect

In just a few years, robotic vacuum cleaners have moved from a luxury category to standard household equipment, with more affordable pieces emerging. Xiaomi has now launched pre-sales in China for the Mijia Robot Vacuum 7C, which combines brutal suction power with a roller mop washed by running water. And in China, you’ll pay only about 7,200 Czech crowns for it, converted.

30,000 Pa Suction and Mop Cleaned by Running Water

The Mijia Robot Vacuum 7C is a classic robotic vacuum cleaner that vacuums and mops in a single pass. The wet cleaning is handled by a roller mop rotating at 200 revolutions per minute, through which fresh water constantly flows. Unlike flat cloths, which tend to spread dirt, Xiaomi claims the mop maintains constant pressure and moisture, handling even dried coffee stains or grease. According to the manufacturer, it applies pressure very similarly to a person mopping manually with a cloth.

Regarding vacuuming, the 30,000 Pa suction power is striking at first glance, allowing the robot to tackle dust, crumbs, and pet hair deeply embedded in carpets. The main brush can cut tangled hair itself, while the side brushes sweep dirt along the walls. You don’t have to constantly worry about full dust and water containers – the docking station takes care of that.

Incidentally, the Chinese brand is also preparing the same combination of a roller mop and 30,000 Pa suction for the more expensive global Robot Vacuum 6 series, which we expect to premiere in early September. How Does It Avoid Furniture and Reach Corners?

Navigation within the apartment is ensured by a combination of an AI camera and a line laser. According to the manufacturer, it can recognize over 220 common obstacles – from shoes to bar stools to personal scales – and reportedly even works in dim light. Additionally, a side laser keeps the robot closer to walls, preventing streaks from being left behind.

To prevent dirty corners after cleaning, the 7C robotic vacuum cleaner can extend its roller mop right into corners where a standard disc cannot reach. With a height of just 9 centimeters, it can maneuver under most beds, cabinets, and sofas. And when it encounters a carpet, an ultrasonic sensor recognizes it, lifts the mop by 10 millimeters, and increases suction to avoid wetting the fabric. Furthermore, it can glide over thresholds up to 2 centimeters high without getting stuck, ensuring it doesn’t miss areas like the balcony or bathroom.

The Docking Station Takes Care of the Rest

After cleaning, the robot automatically returns to its station, where it washes its mop and dries it with hot air – according to Xiaomi, in just two hours. Collected dust is transferred to an antibacterial bag with a volume of 2.5 liters, which the manufacturer claims can last up to 75 days before needing replacement.

Water is managed by a pair of separate tanks: a four-liter tank for clean water and a 3.5-liter tank for dirty water. This means you don’t have to fill and empty water after every cleaning. While the data on bag life and drying speed comes from the manufacturer and we cannot independently verify it, they still promise reasonably maintenance-free operation.

Surprisingly Low Price

The biggest draw of this new product is its price. The Mijia Robot Vacuum 7C starts at 2,299 yuan, which converts to approximately 7,200 Czech crowns, and with discount coupons, the Chinese price can reportedly be reduced to 2,069 yuan (around 6,500 Czech crowns).

Pre-orders are running on the Chinese platform Xiaomi Youpin, with regular sales starting on August 26. The question remains whether the model will eventually reach Europe. The manufacturer has not officially confirmed this, but since they eventually import a wide range of robotic vacuum cleaners (mostly under slightly different names than their Chinese counterparts), there is a certain chance that we will eventually see the Mijia Robot Vacuum 7C on the shelves of local stores.
