Xiaomi unveiled an unusually looking Bluetooth speaker. It has 4GB storage and doesn't cost much

Along with the flagships Xiaomi 17, the Chinese manufacturer also introduced the compact Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speaker yesterday. The speaker primarily stands out with its 4GB integrated storage, where you can store music for listening without connecting to a phone. In China, it sells for 299 yuan, which translates to approximately 900 CZK.

Aluminum construction with compact dimensions

Xiaomi opted for a seamless aluminum construction processed with sandblasting and anodizing technology. With dimensions of 154 × 56 × 25.4 mm and a weight of 249 grams, the speaker comfortably fits into a backpack or bag. The design is complemented by rounded edges, anti-slip feet on the bottom, and physical control buttons located on the side.

It will be available in six color variants: black (Obsidian Black), pink (Sunset Pink), green (Gem Green), purple (Dawn Purple), titanium (Titanium), and blue (Mountain Blue).

Trio of drivers for quality sound

The audio setup consists of two 40mm speakers for full frequency range and one centrally located passive radiator. According to the manufacturer, the aluminum diaphragms can handle frequencies up to 20 kHz. The Nightingale Algorithm software offers three preset modes: Balanced, Indoor, and Outdoor.

Through the Mi Home app, you can set your own equalizer with adjustable treble, mids, and bass. The Xiaomi Audio ID feature then allows you to create a personalized sound profile according to your preferences.

Internal storage for 750 songs

The most interesting feature is the 4GB built-in memory, which, according to the manufacturer, can hold up to 750 music tracks. However, Xiaomi likely calculated this with MP3s, as a WAW or FLAC track certainly wouldn’t fit into 5 MB.

Even so, the internal storage can be considered an interesting benefit. For example, for sports or a garden picnic, you won’t have to bring your phone just to play songs from it.

Modern connectivity and endurance

The speaker supports Bluetooth 5.4, NFC for quick pairing, and charging via USB Type-C. An interesting feature is the support for Xiaomi HyperOS for wireless streaming and the ability to pair two units for stereo sound or up to 10 speakers for synchronized playback.

The 1980 mAh battery reportedly lasts up to 10 hours of playback. The speaker has IP66 certification, making it resistant to dust and splashing water. The built-in microphone allows for hands-free calling.

Availability only in China for now

The Xiaomi Portable Bluetooth Speaker is currently available only on the Chinese market at a price of 299 yuan (approximately 1,000 CZK without tax). Given that the speaker does not include a voice assistant or other smart features that would require localization, its introduction to global markets is not ruled out. However, we do not yet have any information about its potential availability in the Czech Republic.
