Chinese technology giant Xiaomi today officially launched another improved version of its previously introduced security camera in its home country, China. The Smart Camera 4 Dual Camera Edition model comes shortly after the Zoom Edition model and differs from the standard variant primarily by the presence of two 5-megapixel sensors, which capture images at a resolution of 2960 × 1666 pixels. The manufacturer refers to this format as 3K quality.

Two lenses eliminate blind spots

The main advantage of the new product is the combination of a fixed and a rotating lens. While the PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera provides 360° horizontal and 152° vertical coverage, the fixed lens maintains its original field of view. When the fixed camera detects a person or pet, the gimbal automatically turns to the given area and starts tracking the object. Both sensors record simultaneously, which significantly reduces blind spots typical for single-lens cameras.

Furthermore, the fixed lens can be manually tilted, providing users with even greater flexibility in adjusting the shot. Xiaomi has also integrated an infrared light with a wavelength of 940 nm into the camera, which, in conjunction with advanced imaging algorithms, enables color display even in poor lighting conditions. The night vision range is 10 meters.

Local AI processing protects privacy

Noteworthy is the built-in chip that provides local artificial intelligence processing directly in the camera. This allows the device to recognize people and pets in real time without the need to send data to cloud servers. Upon detecting an abnormality, the camera immediately sends a push notification to the mobile application.

The Smart Camera 4 Dual Camera Edition features a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 chip for stable connection and fast data transfer. There is also a security chip for additional protection of transmitted information. The camera supports two-way real-time voice communication and allows storing recordings on a microSD card with a capacity of up to 256 GB.

Integration with the Xiaomi ecosystem

The new product supports automated integration with other Xiaomi smart devices in the home. Users can set up custom scenarios according to family habits – for example, automatic turning on of lights upon motion detection or starting recording when a door opens.

In China, the Xiaomi Smart Camera 4 Dual Camera Edition sells for 299 yuan (approximately 900 CZK without VAT). Additionally, the manufacturer includes a free 64GB memory card for the first customers. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed whether the camera will reach global markets, including the Czech Republic.

Alternative available in the Czech Republic

If the concept of a dual camera has caught your attention, but you don’t want to wait for the uncertain arrival of the Chinese novelty, we have an alternative for you. The Xiaomi Smart Camera C300 Dual is already available in domestic stores for 1,389 CZK.

The C300 Dual model offers a resolution of 2304 × 1296 pixels, motorized lens rotation, and hybrid night vision. It features motion, sound, and person detection, an Auto tracking function for tracking moving objects, and two-way communication. The camera connects via Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth, supports storage on microSD cards up to 256 GB, and is controlled using the Xiaomi Home application.
