Xiaomi is expanding its TV portfolio with a new generation of TV S Mini LED 2026 models, which have just appeared on the manufacturer’s global website. The series comprises a total of five size variants – from a 55″ model up to a monumental 98″ variant. All are united by QD-Mini LED technology, which combines Mini LED backlighting with quantum dots for better color reproduction. Xiaomi has not yet revealed when exactly the TVs will go on sale or at what prices.

Peak Brightness and Precise Local Dimming

The main draw of the new series is Mini LED backlighting with a high number of local dimming zones. The smallest 55″ model features 308 zones, the 65″ variant has 384, the 75″ offers 512 zones, the 85″ model has 640 zones, and the flagship 98″ version boasts 880 independent zones. This allows the TVs to control backlighting more precisely in individual parts of the image.

Xiaomi states a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits and a dynamic contrast ratio of 12,000,000:1 for all models. The minimum brightness is said to reach 0.0001 nits, which the manufacturer compares to the level of OLED panels. Color coverage is 94% of the DCI-P3 space, and the TVs display 1.07 billion colors thanks to 10-bit depth.

Two Segments with Different Specifications

The series is essentially divided into two segments with different specifications. Smaller 55″, 65″, and 75″ models offer a basic 60Hz refresh rate with the option to activate a 120Hz Game Boost mode at lower resolutions (Full HD or 1440p). Under the hood, we find a quad-core Cortex A55 processor complemented by 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. In terms of HDR formats, they support HDR10+, HLG, and Filmmaker Mode.

Larger 85″ and 98″ models are significantly better. They feature a native 144Hz refresh rate and can reach up to 288 Hz in Game Boost mode. They are powered by a more powerful Cortex A73 with 3 GB RAM. VRR support (Variable Refresh Rate) is also available for a smoother gaming experience. Unlike their smaller siblings, these models support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, which will be especially appreciated by movie enthusiasts.

Connectivity and Smart Features

All TVs run on Google TV with integrated Google Assistant. They support Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast for wireless content playback from mobile devices. The Xiaomi TV+ service is also available, offering free streaming of live channels, although its availability may vary by region.

Differences between the segments are also evident in connectivity. Smaller models offer Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and one HDMI 2.1. Larger variants bring Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and three HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K@144Hz support. Additionally, they feature a combination of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is absent on the smaller models.

Sound and Design

Sound on all models is handled by two 15W speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS:X certification. Larger variants add the aforementioned Dolby Atmos. The design features a nearly bezel-less display with a screen-to-body ratio of around 97–98%. The frame combines metal with plastic, and the stand is plastic (metal for the 98″ model).

Who are these TVs for?

The Xiaomi TV S Mini LED 2026 series targets users who want Mini LED technology at a reasonable price – at least if the final price tags align with Xiaomi’s current strategy. Smaller 55–75″ models are suitable for casual movie watching and occasional gaming, where a 60Hz panel with Game Boost mode will suffice. Those who require a high refresh rate, VRR, and Dolby Vision must opt for the 85″ or 98″ variant – but here, one must account for a significantly higher price and space requirements.

It’s worth noting that smaller models only have 2 GB RAM, which might limit the smoothness of the Google TV system in the future. The absence of a 3.5mm jack on the 55–75″ variants might also bother those who prefer wired headphones.
