Chinese technology giant Xiaomi has expanded its micromobility portfolio with a completely redesigned range of electric scooters. The new Electric Scooter 6 series consists of four models that cover a wide spectrum of needs, from urban commuting to light off-road use. Compared to the previous generation, the new models feature larger tires, a more sophisticated suspension system, and, in the case of more powerful variants, longer range with lower energy consumption.

Electric Scooter 6 Lite: Affordable Entry to the Series

The base model of the series targets users looking for a simple and affordable scooter for daily commuting. The Electric Scooter 6 Lite features 10″ pneumatic tires and front dual spring suspension with 25mm travel, which absorbs road imperfections.

Propulsion is provided by a 500W brushless motor allowing for a climbing ability of up to 15% and a maximum speed of 25 km/h. The battery capacity is sufficient for a range of 25 km at a constant speed of 15 km/h, or 20 km at maximum speed. The scooter can carry a rider weighing up to 100 kg and meets the IPX4 ingress protection rating against splashing water.

The braking system combines a front drum brake with a rear electronic E-ABS. Connectivity with the Xiaomi Home app is also included for tracking statistics and setting three riding modes.

Electric Scooter 6: The Middle Ground with a Distinctive Design

The standard Electric Scooter 6 model introduces a distinctive design element in the form of a kicktail – an ergonomically shaped rear extension that improves weight distribution during both acceleration and braking. The scooter is equipped with larger 12″ tubeless tires, which increase ground clearance by 76% and contact patch by 40% compared to smaller wheels.

The suspension system combines front dual springs with 30mm travel and a rear single shock absorber. The motor, with a peak power of 800 W, handles climbs of up to 18% and a maximum speed of 25 km/h. Regarding the battery, we encounter an unpleasant paradox: compared to the previous model, the capacity decreased from 477 Wh to 360 Wh, which also led to a reduction in range from 60 km to 45 km.

The load capacity is 120 kg, and the durability corresponds to IPX5 rating. The scooter supports three riding modes (6/15/25 km/h) and integration with Google Home and Amazon Alexa smart home systems.

Electric Scooter 6 Pro: Ready for Light Off-Road

The Pro variant targets more active users thanks to its off-road tuned chassis. The scooter features 12″ all-terrain tires with a tread pattern for better grip on unpaved surfaces – grip has increased by 30% compared to its predecessor. A ground clearance of 143 mm facilitates overcoming obstacles.

The suspension includes a front fork with 40mm travel utilizing two-stage springs with variable stiffness and a rear central shock absorber. The motor, with a power of 1000 W, allows for a climbing ability of up to 22% and acceleration 0.9× faster than the previous generation.

The 468 Wh battery provides a range of 70 km at 15 km/h, or 45 km at maximum speed. Consumption decreased from 7.95 Wh/km to 6.69 Wh/km. The Pro model offers a TCS anti-slip system for safer riding in wet conditions, a braking system with a front disc and rear E-ABS, and an IPX5 ingress protection rating.

Electric Scooter 6 Max: The Top of the Range

The flagship Max model represents the best-equipped scooter in Xiaomi’s portfolio. It features 12″ tubeless tires with a 13% larger contact patch and 40% better grip than its predecessor. The suspension includes a front fork with a record 45mm travel and a pair of rear shock absorbers.

The motor achieves a peak power of 1100 W and handles climbs of up to 24%. The range is 70 km at 15 km/h thanks to the 468Wh battery with a consumption of 6.69 Wh/km. With an optional fast charger, the battery can be recharged in 2 hours 45 minutes.

The Max model is the only one to offer front and rear disc brakes, a 3″ color TFT display with an adjustable menu, and localization support via Apple Find My. The load capacity reaches 130 kg, and durability corresponds to the highest rating of IPX6. A wider deck (600 × 190 mm) and extended handlebars (606.6 mm) increase comfort during longer rides. A choice between a lever and twist throttle is also available.

Comparison with the Previous Electric Scooter 5 Series

The new generation brings several significant improvements over the Series 5 models. The base Electric Scooter 6 offers larger 12″ tires instead of 10″ on the 5/5 Pro models, which improves stability and comfort. The Pro and Max versions achieve a range of 70 km compared to 60 km on older models, and this is with lower energy consumption (6.69 vs. 7.95 Wh/km) despite a more robust construction.

The flagship Max model introduces new features that the Series 5 did not offer: front and rear disc brakes, a color TFT display, and Apple Find My support. Load capacity increased from 120 to 130 kg. The IPX6 durability rating on the Max model surpasses the IPX5 rating on all Series 5 models.

Who are the New Scooters Suitable For?

The Electric Scooter 6 Lite will appeal to undemanding users looking for a simple scooter for short urban commutes. However, its limited range of 25 km and the absence of rear suspension restrict its use to shorter distances and smoother surfaces.

The Electric Scooter 6 represents a balanced choice for regular commuting with a sufficient range of 45 km and more comfortable 12″ wheels. The kicktail design is more of an aesthetic element; its practical benefit is debatable.

The Electric Scooter 6 Pro targets more active riders who occasionally venture off-asphalt. All-terrain tires and higher ground clearance expand its usability, and the 70km range covers even longer trips.

The Electric Scooter 6 Max is designed for demanding users who appreciate premium features such as a color display, dual disc brakes, or localization via Apple Find My. The higher load capacity of 130 kg will also appeal to heavier riders.

Xiaomi has not yet released information on availability and prices in the Czech market. Given the global launch, the new products can be expected to appear in European stores in the coming months.
