Xiaomi has unveiled its most advanced home security camera to date on its Youpin platform. The Smart Camera 4 Max AI Zoom Edition targets families with children, seniors, or pets, and in addition to top-tier hardware, it offers its own AI model for behavior analysis. Crowdfunding starts on April 8th with a price of 799 yuan (approximately 2,500 CZK), while the recommended retail price is 999 yuan (around 3,100 CZK).

Dual Lenses for Detailed Shots

The camera features a combination of a 12Mpx telephoto lens and an 8Mpx ultra-wide sensor, both utilizing an f/1.6 aperture and a six-element optical design. The ultra-wide covers a field of view of 127 degrees, while the telephoto lens enables 3x lossless and up to 12x hybrid zoom with autofocus. The result is a 4K image with ample detail even when zooming in on distant objects.

Night vision is handled by 10 infrared LEDs, which ensure a color image even in low-light conditions. The motorized gimbal allows for 360° horizontal and 180° vertical rotation, so the camera covers the entire room without blind spots. Xiaomi states that the motor speed has increased by 30% compared to the C700 model.

AI Analyzes Whether a Child Is Truly Studying

At the heart of the new device is a quad-core chip with 3 TOPS of performance, powering Xiaomi’s first AI model designed for home care. This model focuses on three main scenarios: monitoring children, seniors, and pets. Unlike conventional motion detection cameras, it can recognize specific activities – for example, evaluating whether a child at a table is genuinely studying or engaged in something else.

The camera automatically generates daily activity reports and supports text search in recorded videos. Improved person recognition works even when viewed from the side or back, with Xiaomi reporting a 20% increase in accuracy compared to previous models. For quick communication, simply show an OK gesture, and the camera will initiate a two-way call.

Security and Ecosystem Integration

The Smart Camera 4 Max AI Zoom Edition is equipped with a Mijia security chip with EAL5+ certification and supports physical lens cover for maximum privacy. Data is transmitted encrypted, and the camera supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6, which is said to be 60% faster than the previous generation.

The device can be connected to Xiaomi TVs, Mi Speaker speakers, or the brand’s car infotainment system. For recording storage, there is a slot for microSD cards up to 256 GB, cloud storage, or NAS. Upon first activation, users receive one month of AI features for free.

The camera’s design has changed compared to its predecessor – the new model comes in a silver-grey color with a fabric base, suggesting an improved speaker for voice communication. The USB-C port is elegantly hidden within the device’s body.

Whether the camera will ever make it to European markets has not yet been confirmed by Xiaomi. However, similar products usually remain exclusive to China.
