At the presentation in Munich, Xiaomi had more aces up its sleeve than expected. In addition to Xiaomi 15T phones, TVs, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators, and other AIOT products, the Chinese giant also introduced the elegant Watch S4 41mm – a compact variant of its popular smartwatches. And one of the versions even has a real lab-grown diamond in the crown. No, it’s not a joke.

Who are these small but clever watches for?

With a diameter of 41.2 mm and a thickness of just 9.5 mm, the Watch S4 41mm are among the most compact smartwatches on the market. A weight of 32 grams (without strap) means you barely feel them on your wrist. This will be especially appreciated by people with narrower wrists, for whom standard 47mm watches resemble more of a sci-fi movie onboard computer.

Xiaomi will offer four color variants. Basic black and mint green with a fluoro-rubber strap, elegant white with a leather strap, and then there’s the Sunset Gold edition. This one features a gold Milanese loop strap and the crown is adorned with a lab-grown diamond.

AMOLED display that won’t blind or disappear

The display with a diagonal of 1.32 inches has a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels, which gives a sharpness of 352 ppi. This is more than sufficient for a sharp display. A maximum brightness of 1500 nits in HBM mode (High Brightness Mode) ensures that the display remains readable even in direct sunlight.

The panel operates with a 60Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth animations and transitions. Xiaomi has prepared over 200 watch faces, including interactive ones with virtual pets. Your daily movement determines how fast your digital friend grows – a gamification of fitness tracking.

Skin temperature sensor is not just a useless gimmick

A new feature is continuous skin temperature measurement. This is not just another number on the display – the watch can alert you to abnormal values or overheating of the body. For women, this function has another dimension: more accurate prediction of the menstrual cycle based on temperature changes throughout the month.

The improved heart rate module with new sensors promises higher accuracy and stability of measurement. Sleep monitoring has been upgraded with multidimensional analysis and a 21-day plan to improve sleep habits. The watch will not only tell you that you’re sleeping poorly but also advise you on what to do about it.

Sports features that make sense

Dual GNSS with support for L1 and L5 frequencies means precise location tracking even in urban areas or dense forests. For cyclists, there’s Bluetooth heart rate broadcasting – the watch can transmit heart rate data to a cycling computer or trainer.

Swimmers will appreciate real-time heart rate display directly in the water (5ATM water resistance allows this). Skiers, on the other hand, get a mode with fall detection. In total, the watch supports over 150 sports modes, so perhaps only bowling doesn’t have a specialized program.

SOS button that can save a life

Xiaomi also thought about safety. A dedicated SOS button allows for quick emergency calls and real-time location sharing. In less critical situations, you can share your live location with pre-set contacts. The watch also has an emergency siren to deter potential attackers.

However, the feature requires the watch to be constantly connected via Bluetooth to the phone and the Mi Fitness app must be updated to the latest version. Sending SMS messages also works on Android devices, while the function is limited on iOS.

Eight days without a charger

The 320 mAh battery lasts up to 8 days with light use, according to Xiaomi. With normal operation, expect 4 days, and with intensive use and always-on display, it’s 3 days.

The watch runs on Xiaomi HyperOS and supports controlling smart devices via Xiaomi Smart Hub (requires a phone with HyperOS 2 or 3). An interesting feature is customizable finger-snap gestures – you can reject a call, open the weather, or launch the phone’s camera.

How much will you pay for elegance?

At the conference, we naturally also learned the Czech prices. The cheapest variants (black and green) start at 3,399 Kč, the variant with a white leather strap costs 3,799 Kč. The price of the Sunset Gold version with a diamond can then be yours for 3,999 Kč.

How do you like the 41mm variant of the Xiaomi Watch S4?
