The double socket with consumption measurement is now sold for 279 CZK at several Czech retailers, while on the official Solight e-shop it even dropped to 199 CZK. For this price, you get a Wi-Fi socket with control via a phone app and monitoring of electricity consumption.

What the socket can do and how it works

Solight DTY02WIFI contains two independently controlled sockets that you can turn on and off via the TUYA mobile application. The device measures voltage, current, instantaneous power, and total energy consumption. It stores the measured values in the application by days and months, so you have an overview of the long-term consumption of connected appliances.

In addition to basic remote control, the socket offers timers, weekly schedules, and countdowns for automatic switching. An interesting feature is the option of automatic on or off based on sunrise and sunset, which is useful for outdoor lighting or aquariums, for example.

Practical use with certain limitations

The double socket is particularly suitable for monitoring the consumption of smaller appliances such as lamps, chargers, televisions, or coffee makers. The maximum load of 10A/2300W is sufficient for most common appliances but excludes use with more powerful devices such as electric kettles over 2.3 kW or convection ovens.

The main limitation is the shared consumption measurement for both sockets – you cannot distinguish how much energy each connected appliance consumed separately. The device also works only on a 2.4GHz WiFi network, which can complicate connection in homes with more modern routers set only to the 5GHz band. The TUYA application is required for use, which demands registration and sends data to remote servers.
