Huawei has given its fans a first look at its upcoming X3 Pro router, which looks more like a design accessory for the living room than a classic network device. However, the company is keeping the technical specifications under wraps for now, likely to reveal them next month at its official premiere in China.

Design resembles an art object

The Huawei Router X3 Pro radically differs from traditional routers in the form of black or white boxes with protruding antennas. The device has a cylindrical body with a transparent top part, which houses a structure resembling a mountain range.

The internal lighting creates the effect of a sunset over mountains or snow-capped peaks. The photos show both red and white backlighting options, but it is not yet clear whether these will be separate color versions or adjustable RGB lighting. The bottom part of the router is black with a golden Huawei logo.

Main unit with mesh extender

The published images show that the X3 Pro will come as a pair, consisting of a main cylindrical unit and a smaller complementary device adhering to a similar design. The smaller unit will likely function as a wireless extender to create a mesh network, covering a larger area with signal without the need for cables.

Wi-Fi 7 and smart home integration

Although Huawei has not yet announced the complete technical parameters, support for the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard can be expected. The device is also expected to include an integrated NearLink gateway (the Chinese equivalent of Bluetooth), which will make it a central control element for Huawei’s smart home.

The router should enable control of connected devices throughout the home and ensure seamless cooperation between multiple devices in the Huawei ecosystem. Specific data on transmission speeds, number of ports, or signal range have not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer.

Availability outside China uncertain

The Huawei Router X3 Pro will be officially unveiled in November 2025 in China. Information about a potential launch in global markets, including Europe, is not yet available, and personally, I wouldn’t count too much on the device making its way to other parts of the world. The price of the new product has not yet been announced.

What do you think of the design of Huawei’s new router? Would you place it in your living room as a decoration?
