Many users seek them out for their portability when traveling, while others consider them a second device for the home for more comfortable reading or internet browsing. The new Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 9.7, which the manufacturer recently introduced globally, falls into this category. It is now appearing at one of the Czech retailers, thanks to which we already know the prices of both memory variants. They start at a pleasant 4,059 CZK. New product for less than 5 thousand crowns The tablet was listed by retailer F-mobil, which included the Wi-Fi variant in two memory configurations in its offer. The basic version with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage costs 4,059 CZK, while the higher configuration with 128GB storage will cost 4,559 CZK. 9.7″ 2K display with 120 Hz The main attraction of the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is its screen with a diagonal of 9.7 inches and a resolution of 2048×1280 pixels, which corresponds to a density of 250 PPI. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, so scrolling and playing smooth footage feels snappier than on older and cheaper models. Maximum brightness reaches 600 nits. Xiaomi obtained three TÜV Rheinland certifications for the panel (Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, and Circadian Friendly), so it should be gentler on the eyes during prolonged reading. However, we are still talking about an LCD panel, not an AMOLED, which means compromises in black reproduction and contrast. Thin body and 7,600 mAh battery Xiaomi did not skimp on the construction. The tablet has an all-metal unibody design made of aluminum alloy, a thickness of just 7.4 mm, and a weight of 406 grams. While not suitable for long-term one-handed holding, its compact dimensions (226.5×148 mm) allow it to fit into smaller backpacks. The manufacturer offers two color options – Silver and Graphite Grey. Inside the body is a 7,600 mAh battery, which, according to Xiaomi, should last up to 1.7 days of operation. Specifically, it states 15 hours of video playback, 18 hours of music listening, and 16 hours of reading. Charging takes place via USB-C, but the manufacturer does not elaborate on the specific fast charging performance on the product page. Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 and slow memory Under the hood, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset operates at up to 2.9 GHz. According to Xiaomi, it should deliver 34% higher performance compared to its predecessor, the Redmi Pad SE 8.7, so it should have enough power for typical content consumption. It is complemented by 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage with a capacity of 64 or 128 GB, with the option to expand with a microSD card up to 2 TB. Adam Kurfürst News Adam Kurfürst News It’s fair to admit that this combination in 2026 falls rather to the lower end of what can be offered in the segment. For YouTube, social media, web browsing, or e-book reading, the performance will suffice, but the tablet is not built for more demanding titles like Genshin Impact. Multitasking with 4 GB of RAM will also be limited for extended periods. HyperOS 3 and phone connectivity The software will arrive in the form of the Xiaomi HyperOS 3 overlay, which, among other things, offers a shared clipboard between the tablet and a Xiaomi phone and the ability to answer calls directly on the tablet. The implementation of the Circle to Search feature is also present, allowing you to mark anything on the screen with a gesture, and Google will immediately search for it without the need to take a screenshot. The rest of the features worth mentioning include an 8Mpx rear camera, a 5Mpx front camera suitable for video calls, a pair of stereo speakers, a classic 3.5mm jack for headphones, and face unlock support. What some users will miss is a fingerprint reader – Xiaomi did not implement one in this tablet at all. Who is it for? The Redmi Pad 2 9.7 targets undemanding users looking for a second tablet for the home for watching videos, reading e-books, or browsing social media. The compact format will also be appreciated by those who travel a lot with their tablet. It also makes sense as a device for seniors or children, where simple operation without gaming performance requirements is sufficient. Conversely, for gamers, creatives, or professionals, it’s a dead end. The slow UFS 2.2 memory, only 4 GB of RAM, a weaker processor, and an LCD panel instead of AMOLED mean that the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is not suitable for anything more demanding than passive content consumption. Its sibling with an 11″ display is also worth considering – the standard Redmi Pad 2, which is sold in the Czech Republic at a similar price level but offers a more powerful Helio G100 Ultra and a larger 9,000mAh battery. If you don’t need a compact format, this model represents a more reasonable choice. Would you buy the Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 9.7 at the stated price?
