Affordable Redmi 17 4G is heading to Europe. It will impress with a gigantic battery

Leaks surrounding the affordable Redmi series are increasing, and this time it’s not just speculation from discussion forums. The Redmi 17 4G already has its own entry in the European EPREL registry, where manufacturers are obliged to report data for energy labels. We wrote about Xiaomi skipping the number 16 for its affordable models back in early June – now specific numbers have been added.

Redmi 17 4G will get a 7,500mAh battery

The EPREL database is used for energy labels, and manufacturers enter data into it under their own responsibility. For the upcoming phone, a 7500 mAh battery along with 45W charging support appeared in the database. For a model expected to cost under six thousand CZK, this is an unusually generous pair of numbers.

The entry also immediately states the endurance: 73 hours and 54 minutes in a standardized test. Normal usage looks different from a laboratory scenario, so take this value more as a comparative benchmark between phones than a promise of three days without a charger. The same entry expects the cell to retain over 80 percent of its capacity after 1000 charging cycles.

Durability also emerges from the European labels. The new device received IP64 protection, a class B rating in the free-fall test, and also a B for energy efficiency. It received a worse grade for repairability, where it is rated grade C.

Renders and specifications leaked

The rest of the features are based on a leak, which was published by Ytechb along with rendered images. According to them, the front will feature a 6.9-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, but with a resolution of only 1600 × 720 pixels – a significant compromise for such a large area.

The device is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra chipset, complemented by 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. The system will be HyperOS 3.0 built on Android 16. On the back, a dual camera setup is expected, led by a 50Mpx sensor, with an 8Mpx selfie camera on the front. NFC and a side-mounted fingerprint reader should also be present.

However, one discrepancy is worth noting. Registration documents from June also mentioned variants with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, whereas the recently leaked list is silent about them. Which of these is ultimately valid will only be revealed by the official presentation.

The dimensions are expected to be 170.12 × 78.42 × 8.8 mm with a weight of 232 grams – such a bulky battery simply won’t fit into a subtle body. Several colors should be available, including dark blue and green, and according to the renders, RGB backlighting is expected around the camera island.

How much will Xiaomi ask for it?

According to the same leak, the basic 4/128 GB configuration is expected to sell in Europe for approximately 6,000 CZK (250 euros), while the better-equipped 6/256 GB version will be around 6,800 CZK (280 euros). The manufacturer has not yet announced prices for the Czech market or the launch date.

The EPREL entry itself is, however, a strong signal that the phone is heading to the old continent – devices intended for the EU market are registered in this database. The affordable Redmi series regularly makes its way into Czech stores, so the new device should have an open path to local shelves.
