Amazfit on iPhone finally does more. Notification improvements will please everyone

Smartwatches paired with an iPhone long functioned mainly as a passive screen on the wrist – you read notifications, but any reaction meant pulling out your phone. Amazfit is now removing this limitation on selected models and bringing interactive notifications, which Apple had for years reserved mainly for its own Apple Watch.

What Amazfit watches can now do on iPhone

The new feature transforms a notification from a mere alert into something interactive. You can now handle things on your wrist that previously only worked on your phone. Amazfit specifically mentions three new capabilities.

• Replying to messages directly from the watch, for example in WhatsApp, without reaching for your phone
• Quick actions for supported notifications – such as marking as read or calling back
• Image display in notifications, so you can see a preview from a smart doorbell directly on the screen

Why is this happening now? A European law made it possible

Interactive notifications sound like a given, but on iPhone, it’s a small revolution. Apple had long reserved this level of integration only for its own Apple Watch, and watches from other brands had to stick to simple display.

The change was forced by the European Digital Markets Act (DMA), which mandates Apple to open iOS to competitor accessories. Apple is therefore gradually making interfaces for forwarding and handling notifications available in the European Union – and Amazfit is among the first manufacturers to take advantage of this. Rival Garmin has not yet announced a similar feature.

Which Amazfit watches will get the feature

Right from the start of the beta version, Balance Ultra, Balance 3, and Cheetah 2 Ultra support the new feature. Amazfit promises that other models will be added in the coming weeks and months.

For the new feature to appear, you need the latest Zepp app and watch firmware, and an iPhone with iOS 26.5 or newer. You can then enable the feature directly in the Zepp app in device settings. As this is a beta version available only in the European Union, expect it to be still rolling out and potentially behave unstably.
