Android 17 reveals a secret. Google's upcoming foldable will offer an unconventional color version Home News Wallpapers named "Pine" and "Midnight" have appeared in the Android 17 Beta code, reportedly accompanying the Pixel 11 Pro Fold The naming suggests that the new foldable Pixel will come in dark green and black color variants Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 11 Pro Fold this summer, alongside the standard Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro models Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 26. 4. 2026 04:30 Advertisement A minor leak that nonetheless holds charm for Pixel fans. Software engineer Dylan Roussel discovered wallpapers in the latest Android 17 beta that are assigned in the system to the as-yet unreleased Pixel 11 Pro Fold. In addition to the images themselves, the code also contains their names — and these names (besides the appearance of the wallpapers themselves) indicate which color variants Google is preparing. Pine green and classic Midnight Pro models are getting used to bolder colors Pine green and classic Midnight The wallpapers are named Pine (Czech for pine tree) and Midnight. From the previews Roussel published, it’s clear that Pine represents a rich dark green shade, while Midnight will be the expected black. If the manufacturer adheres to its custom — and this has been true for previous Pixel generations — the wallpaper names roughly correspond to the names of the color variants in which the phone will eventually go on sale. For Pixel Pro series phones, Google has primarily focused on more subdued tones like Porcelain or Obsidian in recent years, reserving more vibrant colors for the cheaper A-series. Black, therefore, fits into the established scheme. However, dark green Pine is a significantly more interesting choice that could visibly distinguish the foldable Pixel from the competition. After all, last year’s Jade color on the foldable Pixel (at least internationally) garnered a very positive reception. Pro models are getting used to bolder colors The trend towards bolder colors in premium models is not unique. Apple introduced a Cosmic Orange shade for the iPhone 17 Pro that is impossible to miss on the street — and according to customer feedback, that’s exactly what they want from more expensive models. If Google truly introduces the Pine variant, it will be a logical continuation of the same philosophy. A black or white phone looks like just another in the crowd, but a rich green foldable will draw attention. Naturally, it must be emphasized that this is still a leak, not an official announcement. Google may rename the colors before the final presentation, add a third variant, or even replace one of them with something entirely different. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is expected this summer, along with the classic Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro models — so definitive clarity will only come at the time of the unveiling.
