Apple revealed when it will unveil the iPhone 17. This year's presentation could be truly interesting

Apple has finally confirmed the date of its traditional September keynote. The new generation iPhone 17 will be unveiled during a broadcast that will run on September 9th at 7:00 PM our time. The series will bring four models, including the anticipated iPhone 17 Air, which will replace the current Plus variant and is presented in leaks as the most interesting new addition to the entire portfolio.

iPhone 17 Air as this year’s star

According to speculation, the iPhone 17 Air boasts an extremely thin body, measuring just 5.5 mm at its thinnest point, thus surpassing even the 5.8 mm thin Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. However, Apple will exact a price for this elegance in the form of many significant compromises.

As we recently reported, the battery is said to have a capacity of just 2,900 mAh, which is significantly less than all last year’s models, including the base iPhone 16 (which has 3,561 mAh). South Korean competitors offer 3,900 mAh. Furthermore, the phone will only feature a single 48Mpx rear camera, while the front camera is reportedly offering 24 Mpx resolution.

The 6.6-inch display will apparently be complemented by an A19 Pro chipset with a reduced number of GPU cores for better energy efficiency and 12 GB of RAM. This model will also be the first to feature Apple’s own 5G modem, the Apple C1.

Base iPhone 17 with improvements for everyone

The standard iPhone 17 will get a larger 6.3-inch display and, for the first time, will offer ProMotion technology with an adaptive refresh rate and Always-On display, features previously reserved for Pro models.

Under the phone’s hood, an A19 chipset accompanied by 8 GB of RAM is expected to tick, while on the front, we should see an improved 24Mpx TrueDepth selfie camera.

Pro models with a radical camera change

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will retain their display sizes of 6.3 and 6.9 inches, but will bring a significant redesign of the rear cameras. Instead of a triangular arrangement, they will likely feature a horizontal bar across the entire width of the phone with three 48Mpx sensors (wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and telephoto), making them practically unmissable.

Both models will rely on a full-fledged A19 Pro chipset with 12 GB of RAM due to enhanced AI features. An interesting point is the alleged transition from titanium to an aluminum construction and new color variants, including orange.

This year, we certainly won’t be bored

It looks like we won’t be bored this year. According to current speculations and leaks, the iPhone 17 series could bring enough hardware and design changes to be considered interesting. After all, Apple will have its work cut out for it to convince users deciding between buying an Apple device and a model from the new Pixel 10 series, which introduced magnets for the very first time.
