Czechs, get ready! Spotify prices will increase next month Home News Spotify is increasing Premium subscription prices in many regions worldwide The basic individual plan in the Czech Republic now costs 185 CZK instead of 169 CZK The promised Hi-Fi service with lossless audio quality is still missing Sdílejte: Jakub Kárník Published: 5. 8. 2025 12:30 Advertisement Spotify has announced that it will increase the prices of its Premium subscription in many regions worldwide starting in September. The change will affect users in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region. The Czech Republic will also not escape the price hike, so we will pay on average 10-15% more for the popular streaming service. The company justifies this step by the need to fund innovations and new features. New prices in the Czech Republic The basic individual Spotify Premium plan will now cost 185 CZK per month, which is an increase of 16 CZK from the current 169 CZK. The Duo plan, designed for two users, will increase from 229 CZK to 249 CZK per month. The Family plan for up to six household members will now cost 299 CZK instead of 269 CZK, while the student plan will increase from 89 CZK to 97 CZK per month. For new subscribers, the higher prices will take effect immediately, while existing users will pay more starting with their next billing period in September. Spotify announced that it would inform all affected users about the change via email. Price increase almost worldwide Within Europe, the price of the basic individual plan is increasing from €10.99 to €11.99 per month. Interestingly, the current wave of price increases does not affect the United States and Canada, which is quite unusual. In the last two years, Spotify typically increased prices in the US in June or July. Last year, the basic plan there rose to $12, and the year before that to $11. Reasons for the price increase and future outlook In its statement, Spotify says that the price increase is necessary to continue to “innovate its products and features and provide users with the best possible experience.” Last year, however, the company discontinued the Car Thing device and ended its support less than a year after its launch. At the same time, it has still not delivered on its promise regarding the arrival of the Hi-Fi service, which would offer music in lossless quality. Czechs, get ready!
