Chinese giant DJI has finally entered the 360° camera market, which has so far been dominated by brands like Insta360 or RICOH. The new DJI Osmo 360 promises groundbreaking features including native 8K video at 50fps and record battery life. The camera is already available in the Czech Republic, but its price of 12,490 CZK makes it a product suitable only for true enthusiasts.

What DJI Osmo 360 Offers

The biggest draw of the DJI Osmo 360 is its special square HDR sensor, which is the same size as a traditional 1″ sensor, but thanks to its square shape, it better utilizes the area for 360° capture. The result is 25% greater sensor utilization and better energy efficiency while maintaining compact dimensions.

The camera records native 8K video at 30fps with a continuous battery life of 100 minutes – which DJI claims is a record in this category. For even more demanding users, it offers 8K at 50fps, while 2.4 μm pixels (double the industry standard) ensure better low-light performance. A dynamic range of 13.5 stops and an aperture of f/1.9 are designed to help even in high-contrast scenes.

An interesting feature is the ability to use the camera as a regular action camera with a single lens at 5K resolution at 60fps with a wide 155° angle. Boost Video mode then offers 4K at 120fps with an angle of up to 170°.

Who is the camera designed for?

DJI primarily targets professional content creators and advanced enthusiasts who need long battery life and high image quality. The camera weighs only 183 grams and has 105 GB of built-in memory, making it suitable for travel. Its resistance to temperatures from -20°C to +55°C will be appreciated by adventurers and athletes.

Features like the invisible selfie stick, voice control, or HorizonSteady stabilization simplify content creation for social media. Compatibility with Osmo Action series accessories is a bonus for existing DJI product users.

Availability and Price in the Czech Republic

The DJI Osmo 360 Standard Combo is available in the Czech Republic on Alza for 12,490 CZK. The price is slightly higher than the competing Insta360 X4 (11,990 CZK), but lower than the premium Insta360 X5 (14,990 CZK). The question is whether DJI can convince customers that entering an already established market is worth the premium.

Alternatives on the Czech Market

If the price of the DJI Osmo 360 deters you or you are looking for other options, you will find several interesting alternatives from established 360° camera manufacturers on the Czech market.

Insta360 X4

Insta360 X4 for 11,990 CZK offers similar 8K video, but with 72Mpx photos and waterproofing up to 10 meters. The battery lasts 135 minutes, and the camera has a 2.5″ touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass protection. It is a proven choice with a rich accessory ecosystem.

Insta360 X5 Standard Bundle

RICOH THETA Z1

RICOH THETA Z1 for 34,590 CZK targets professionals with a 1″ CMOS sensor and RAW format saving capability. Its magnesium alloy body and 51GB memory make it a premium tool, but the price is significantly higher.
