Exclusive: We got our hands on the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 before its global release. How do you like it?

A month ago, the relatively anticipated foldable Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 was revealed to the world for the first time. With this device, the Chinese electronics manufacturer intends to build on its first smartphone of this type launched last year. Compared to its predecessor, the new model brings a number of innovations, whether it’s a faster chipset, wireless charging support, higher battery capacity, or better display brightness. While it has officially arrived only on the Chinese market so far, we managed to photograph it even before its global launch.

The Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 is already in the Czech Republic… in a way

We got our hands on the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 right here in the Czech Republic, so one could say it has arrived here in a way. But it’s not that simple. We managed to get access to it on the occasion of the grand opening of Xiaomi’s first official brick-and-mortar store in our region, so you won’t find it on store shelves just yet. And you can’t buy it yet, of course. The good news, however, is that we shouldn’t be too far from its global debut.

Like its predecessor, the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 primarily impresses with its large rear display, which can run a wide range of applications – the manufacturer spoke in June about support for over 500 different ones – and a keyboard. The construction itself feels premium thanks to the metal frame and flat side edges. Even the crease on the primary display is not as visible as one might expect.

The specifications are truly premium

Delving deeper into the specifications, the Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 entices with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is ready to handle the most demanding tasks and artificial intelligence. Compared to last year’s model, there has been a significant increase in battery capacity, which this time is 5,165 mAh. It can be charged with 67W wired power, and additionally with 50W wirelessly. The first MIX Flip could not be charged wirelessly at all, so we can say that the new model has gotten rid of a serious pain point.

An important change also occurred in the camera department. Xiaomi has replaced the telephoto lens with an ultra-wide-angle sensor, which may be a step backward for many (on the other hand, there are also many users who clearly prefer ultra-wide). The primary camera has a 50Mpx resolution, an f/1.7 aperture, and optical stabilization. We discussed the specifications in more detail in a previous article.

The debut should be around the corner

Given the speed with which Xiaomi introduced the first MIX Flip to global markets after its successful release in China, we assume that the MIX Flip 2 will not keep us waiting long. However, we have not been able to find out exactly when it will arrive. Similarly, we currently have no information about the price, but we can remind you that the predecessor arrived here for 31,999 CZK in the 12/512GB version.
