Fifteen-inch MacBook Air with M4 drastically discounted! No better offer in the Czech Republic, plenty of units in stock

A better opportunity to upgrade from an old notebook is unlikely to come along soon. The 15″ MacBook Air M4 is available via Heureka on Mall.cz for 22,791 CZK, and at the time of writing, there are still 29 units in stock. While the M5 already exists, it costs 10 to 11 thousand more – and for everyday use, it doesn’t offer a difference that would justify that price.

Why M4 is sufficient even when M5 is available

Apple has made significant progress with Apple Silicon – performance that would have been considered workstation-level just a few years ago is now in a notebook that weighs over a kilogram and quietly rests on your lap. The M4 chip handles everything a typical user does: office work, browsing the web with fifty tabs, photo editing in Lightroom, video calls, and video editing in Final Cut. You will only notice the difference between M4 and M5 in practice with professional tasks – rendering 4K video, compiling large code projects, or 3D modeling.

If you are upgrading from an Intel MacBook, the new model is up to 23× faster, and twice as powerful compared to the M1 model. For a student, frontend programmer, journalist, marketer, or even a family notebook for everything, the M4 is overkill – in a good way. It will be sufficient for you long after 2030. 16 GB of unified memory is now standard (Apple finally standardized it), and a 256GB SSD is enough if you are among less demanding users.

What you get besides performance

The 15″ Liquid Retina display has a resolution of 2880 × 1864 px, 500 nits brightness, and P3 color gamut support – for photo editing or simply watching series, it’s an exceptional experience. The battery lasts up to 18 hours of real-world web browsing, which is a rule for the Air after switching to Apple Silicon, not a marketing trick. The aluminum body feels premium. The 12Mpx camera with Center Stage and three microphones make the notebook a decent conferencing device.

If you have an iPhone, the ecosystem is another argument. Universal Clipboard between Mac and iPhone, AirDrop, Handoff, and iMessage make the two systems a single seamless workspace.

Where the Air falls short

The Air does not have active cooling. For everyday work, this is a plus – the notebook is completely silent. However, during long 4K video rendering or intensive code compilation, it will start to throttle, and performance will drop. If you perform these tasks daily, you might want to consider a MacBook Pro instead. Apple Intelligence currently only works in English, so you won’t get much out of Apple’s artificial intelligence in the Czech Republic yet – but this is continuously changing.
