Galaxy S27 Ultra is said to look like an iPhone. The leaker himself expects a wave of criticism

Months remain until the unveiling of the Galaxy S27 Ultra, yet it seems we already know what its back will look like. The well-known leaker Ice Universe published a design sketch on both X and Weibo, which he initially did not associate with Samsung at all – but in a subsequent post, he confirmed that it indeed concerns the upcoming flagship. And he immediately added that he expects a lot of criticism.

The horizontal strip is out of the game

For the past few months, conceptual designs were dominated by a horizontal strip in the style of Pixel phones, which had been discussed since April. However, according to the new leak, it is definitively gone. Instead, Samsung is expected to opt for a raised platform occupying the upper part of the back – a solution you know well from the iPhone 17 Pro. To be fair, Apple was not the first to introduce this design language; similar designs were used by Poco phones from Xiaomi even earlier.

Practical advantages that will be lost in criticism

That criticism is expected for the unoriginal look is one thing. The other is that the change would also have its practical justification. A platform spread across the entire width means that the phone placed on a table will not wobble, as happens with the current one-sided module. And then there’s a second bonus – more space for Qi2 magnetic accessories, which the Galaxy S26 Ultra offers only to a limited extent. According to the leak, by the way, the S27 series could get magnets for the very first time, although the same prediction was made last year.
