Google Keep should have had this feature a long time ago. It's only now reaching users

Google’s popular note-taking app long lacked one trivial ability – to find a specific word within a longer note. That’s changing now. The Find in note feature is rolling out broadly, and you don’t need to download anything to enable it.

Whether you’re saving shopping lists, meeting notes, or ideas captured on the go to the app, sooner or later you’ll encounter the same inconvenience: finding a specific line in a long note by eye is difficult. This is precisely what Google Keep is finally addressing.

The search option first appeared in Keep at the beginning of the month, but only for a handful of users. Now, according to 9to5Google, it’s rolling out fully. The Android Authority editorial team confirmed the new feature on several phones, but one of its members hasn’t seen it yet – the rollout is therefore gradual, as is customary with similar updates.

How does search in Google Keep work?

Open a note, tap the three-dot menu, and select the Find in note option. Then, simply type the search term, and the app will highlight all its occurrences in yellow. You can jump between found locations using the up and down arrows – it’s practically the same tool as Ctrl+F in a desktop browser. To free up more screen space, it’s worth hiding the keyboard.

What’s next for Keep?

Search isn’t the only recent new feature. Just a day earlier, it was revealed that Keep can create a checklist directly within a regular note, or add notes to an existing task list. The biggest upcoming change is expected to be the Keep Live feature, which will allow creating notes and lists simply by speaking. Google showcased it at the I/O 2026 conference, and its launch is expected during the summer.
