Google Pixel 10 leaks in new images! Phones will be thicker, but the reason will please you

Remember the first Pixel from 2016? The one in “Really Blue” shade was like a unicorn – beautiful, distinctive, and most importantly, unavailable in Czechia. After almost a decade, Google decided to dust off the nostalgia. Pixel 10 in “Indigo” color looks according to fresh leaks like a worthy successor to this blue icon. And the good news is that we will see it already on August 20 at the Made by Google event in New York.

Blue that hits you in the eye (in a good way)

Yesterday, WinFuture released a significant batch of watermark-free images showing the base Pixel 10 in all its glory. Besides the “Indigo” blue, we can also admire the yellow-green “Limoncello” variant, which looks like a radioactive lemon. These will be complemented by the classic black “Obsidian” and light “Frost”.

In contrast, the Pro models received a more subdued palette: besides black and white (“Porcelain”), we have a subtle green “Jade” and a grey-blue “Moonstone”. Interestingly, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will not be available in black at all – it will only be available in “Moonstone” and “Jade”, which is quite an unusual decision for a flagship phone.

Telephoto lens for everyone, but at what cost?

The base Pixel 10 finally gets a third camera with a telephoto lens. This has been the privilege of Pro models until now, so if you wanted zoom and didn’t want to pay a fortune, you were out of luck. But beware – Google solved it in its own way. To keep the price down, it worsened the main and ultrawide sensors. According to the leak, it will use the same chips as the cheaper Pixel 9A, which means smaller sensors capturing less light.

It’s a classic “something for something” case – you get zoom, but main photos will be worse than on Pixel 9. Pro models, meanwhile, will retain higher quality sensors across the entire setup. If photo quality is your primary concern, it will be a tough decision this year.

Tensor G5 by TSMC – finally the performance we deserve?

Google is finally leaving Samsung, and the new Tensor G5 will be manufactured by TSMC on the same 3nm process that Apple uses for the A18 Pro. This should mean a significant leap in performance and, most importantly, efficiency. Pixels have always been more about software than raw power, but this time they might finally catch up with (at least last year’s) competition even in benchmarks.

Qi2 with magnets? Google might have finally understood

All Pixel 10 models will be heavier and thicker than their predecessors. This could be due to larger batteries, but it’s more likely about space for magnets. Leaks suggest that Google will finally add Qi2 support with magnets, not just Qi2 Ready like Samsung. An accessory ecosystem called “Pixelsnap” is even being prepared, including magnetic chargers and stands.

If confirmed, this will be the first Android with full-fledged magnetic charging in the MagSafe style. And that could be a bigger revolution than any color.

Android will also receive a major Material 3 Expressive redesign and even a desktop mode similar to Samsung DeX. Pixels are slowly transforming from phones into universal computers – just connect them to a monitor.

The official unveiling will take place on August 20 in New York, and in addition to phones, we will also see new watches and headphones.
