The IKEA TOFSMYGGA is an outdoor smart plug that allows you to transform ordinary garden lights or decorative string lights into full-fledged components of a smart home system. The new product has already appeared on the manufacturer’s European websites, but we do not yet have information on Czech availability and price. Matter ensures wide compatibility Increased durability for outdoor use Multiple control methods Price and availability Matter ensures wide compatibility TOFSMYGGA is built on the open Matter standard, making it a universal solution for various smart home ecosystems. The plug works with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Homey, and Samsung SmartThings platforms. This allows you to easily integrate it into your existing system, regardless of which brand you prefer. For communication, it uses the Matter over Thread protocol, which requires a Thread Border Router – in IKEA’s case, this is the DIRIGERA hub. Alternatively, compatible devices from other manufacturers, such as Apple TV or Google Nest Hub, can also serve this purpose. Increased durability for outdoor use The plug features IP44 certification, which guarantees protection against splashing water and dust. This protection is active only when the plug’s lid is closed or if the connected appliance itself has an IP44 rating or higher. The plug body is made of polycarbonate plastic in a black finish. Multiple control methods The TOFSMYGGA plug can be controlled in several ways. In addition to the IKEA Home smart app, a remote control or motion sensor from IKEA’s range can also be used. You can connect up to 10 plugs simultaneously to one remote control or sensor, which is useful, for example, when automating garden lighting. IKEA brings smart outdoor plug to Europe.
