JBL Boombox 4 brings higher power and longer battery life. It will liven up any party

The JBL brand has significantly expanded its portfolio of portable speakers in recent weeks. Recently, we informed you about the compact Grip model with LED lighting and IP68 certification, which targets active, frequently traveling users. Now comes a much larger novelty – JBL Boombox 4, which represents an evolution of the popular line of powerful party speakers. The fourth generation brings higher power, longer battery life, and several technological improvements over its predecessor.

Lighter design with integrated handle

The JBL Boombox 4 retains the robust appearance of its predecessors, but engineers managed to reduce its weight by 12% compared to the third generation. The speaker now weighs 5.89 kg and measures 506.4 × 262.9 × 212.9 mm. The practical integrated handle makes it easy to carry, which will be especially appreciated by users who frequently move the speaker between locations. Three color variants are available – black, blue, and camouflage.

Seven drivers for powerful sound

At the heart of the speaker is a seven-driver system, consisting of a pair of 5-inch woofers, a pair of 0.75-inch tweeters, and a trio of passive radiators. When powered from the mains, the Boombox 4 delivers 210 W RMS, and 180 W when operating on battery. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous generation, which offered a maximum of 180 W.

A new feature is the AI Sound Boost algorithm, which analyzes played music in real-time and automatically adjusts the output for more dynamic and balanced sound. Users will also appreciate the two-stage Bass Boost mode, activated by a dedicated button for even more pronounced bass frequencies.

Modern connectivity with Bluetooth 5.4

JBL opted for Bluetooth 5.4 with Auracast support, which allows wireless connection of multiple compatible JBL speakers for extended stereo sound. The speaker supports simultaneous connection of two Bluetooth devices, so you can quickly switch between playback sources without disconnecting.

An interesting feature is the support for USB-C for lossless audio playback. JBL has integrated a high-quality DAC converter, which allows playing high-resolution music directly from a computer or other digital device via cable.

Battery life up to 34 hours and power bank function

The Boombox 4 features a 99Wh battery, providing up to 28 hours of playback during standard use. With the active Playtime Boost mode, the battery life extends to an impressive 34 hours. For comparison: the previous generation offered a maximum of 24 hours of operation.

The speaker can function as a 30W power bank with a 20V/1.5A output via the PPS protocol for charging mobile devices. The speaker itself charges via USB-C or an AC port with fast charging support. Durability has been increased to IP68 certification, meaning complete protection against dust and water.

Availability only in China so far

The JBL Boombox 4 is currently sold only on the Chinese market for a price of 3,999 yuan (approximately 11,600 CZK in conversion). The manufacturer has not yet provided information on its release in the European market. Meanwhile, you can still purchase the available JBL Boombox 3, which costs from 8,990 CZK in the Czech Republic.
